Even with life vest on...also no guarantee you will survive.

I pray for the two missing.

A simple fishing trip turned out badly.

Neutral Newbie

My father planned on following his friend on a fishing trip out sea too, I told him this incident.

Now he think twice before going, especially in this kind of season. A sunny day can turn into a nasty storm in under 15 mins.

They will be in my prayers.. Today is the last day of the search, if nothing is found today, they will call off the search..

I always thought a life vest can float forever in water, why still can sink? [:(]

I dun think it's sinking. But it was push away by the strong currents.

He might ends up not within the range that they tried searching for.

Holy cow dude! Smashed by a 50m high tanker!!! What a way to go. I think it's very lucky that there were any survivors at all. Can appear on Biography Channel's "I Survived" already!

Heroic attempt on the part of Keith man! Malaysian guy 2 years younger also gave-up and turned back. Hope the search & rescue is successful though the chances are slim...

There's always some hope... in malaysia recently, reported that a japanese dive instructor, left for dead, but amazingly turned up at the beach after a 30km swim!!

This latest incident happened at night, so it's tricky... very easy to get separated and lost sight of one person. Nature is very unforgiving, but we have been so accustomed to city living... sometimes forget... Anyway, I'm quite surprised and can't imagine how a large tanker could suddenly "sneak" up on the fishing boat. Surely the tanker was travelling with lights on and everything??

For general education.

"Once you are faced with the events immediately following a boat capsizing the preeminent rule is to always stay with the boat. The moment a person attempts to leave the boat for a swim to safety, the chances that person will be successfully rescued drops drastically"
