that's quite true unless its a twisty and short track when the so called straights are short for scratching or flexing the fingers :D

time to sip water also if you have a tube

yeh 100% on the water. its amazing how dehyrated one gets and how big a difference it makes. i read someplace concentration can drop as much as 10%.

In a 2hr stint in an endurance race (summer) i usually drink about 2liters of water. we had a driver last year whos drinking hose came out and after 2hrs of racing when he pitted to do a driver change he actually fainted when he got out the car! - not good

why not do something else in summer, race only during cooler months? :D

have you found 'cooler' material for the race suit?

in fact while using my daily car on track, in order to 'extract' heat from the engine/radiator for better cooling and not overheat the engine etc, i turned the cabin heater to full blast just to 'use up' the heat from the engine.... imagine having very hot air blasting at the driver with windows shut tight at sepang's hot track!! ( i do left a small gap for the window after a while )

we have a 12hr race every summer and its a killer. 32 deg outside the car - inside much higher.

being an engineer i designed my own driver cooling system.

bought a "cool shirt" took an old ice box, a 12v pump and some piping and put it together (could have bought whole kit but decided to save some cash make my own box)

at each driver change we throw another block of ice in the box and the pump pumps cold water through the cool shirt. Its a great bit of kit all the drivers love it. really very effective.

ive made a couple of smaller ones for friends who do track days

we have a 6hr endurance race this weekend.....heats not going to be an issue tough seeing as its snowing at the circuit at moment!

this is what i have been thinking/dreaming of ...... have you tried having a suit with inner pockets where you can shaft dry-ice packs?

The helmet is hard to 'cool' for safety compliance reasons.....

btw, doesnt ducted fresh air intake help? (saw flexible rubber 'hose', fist size, sticking out to catch fresh air to cool the cockpit on many race cars)?
