TVT Supercharged December 12, 2011 Share December 12, 2011 That is why I am looking for higher capacity. my current front load is the old 5kg. Imagine how many times we need to wash all the curtains, bed sheets and blankets. Especially, so for this ageing washer. Perhaps, the 10kg is the better choice. Panasonic. 10kg will cost half of a Bosch, and uses less energy. If you do such heavy stuff washing, go for the max capacity washer, that is 12kg. The drum is bigger, the motor more powerful to take the load. Only problem is: its big and so you must ensure you have enough space to put it. Even 10kg washer is consider quite big. When I buy my 12kg washer, I measure the size properly before ordering. Also consider the space required to move it in from outside... ↡ Advertisement
Atonchia Supersonic December 12, 2011 Share December 12, 2011 I didn't expect to get such useful information from MCF. LOL, thought only engines of cars interest people here. Today I've learnt quite a lot on washing machine. Getting new set soon.
Mustank Hypersonic December 13, 2011 Share December 13, 2011 Panasonic appliances are very reliable, at least to some of us (better say this exclusion, before others jump on me). Actually, I am more in favour of the 10kg model. i used to have a panasonic washing machine. made in japan. worked for me for 7 yrs. everyday use 2 times. Fierce washer! 5936 1st Gear December 13, 2011 Author Share December 13, 2011 wow you change parade also as fierce if not more than your washing machine. Mine usually once per day, except for bedding change my operating cost on elect and water is about
5936 1st Gear December 13, 2011 Author Share December 13, 2011 Yes, got maid. She is the operator of my washing machine. If hand wash, water bill will soot up and house full of wet laundry which take longer time to dry. Besides, am afraid that neighbours staying lower floors may be upset with dripping laundry. Ultramega 1st Gear December 13, 2011 Share December 13, 2011 no comments on water usage wise but a front loader is less easy on the requirements for detergents if i am not wrong. yes top loader is much much cheaper. Another thing i can think of. It usually takes ages for the washing machine to pump in the required water level for washing. With top loader i usually pour in the water manually so that the washing cycle is drastically reduced in duration. The reduction in duration is only an illusion. Top loaders need A LOT more water than front loaders. 2-3 time more. Less water = less time needed to pump in water. Front loader wins if you want to compare the time needed to pump in water. Anyway, all the washing machines i used all my life, each pumping in of water typically takes 1 min or so. How "drastically" can you reduce that?? Ultramega 1st Gear December 13, 2011 Share December 13, 2011 i got a crazy idea: first we get those storeroom rack contractors to build a 2 storey rack. the top part of the rack has to be secured to a wall. then we put a front loader on the top and a top loader on the bottom. then we secure the front loader using addiotional steel frame from the rack contractor. we can then divert waste water from the front loader to the top loader. the top loader can be used to wash not impt facric like rags. Unless your aim is to save space, otherwise for your idea to work they don't have to be on top of each other. Just put a water pump in the middle. Should cost much lesser than a custom built rack. And the washing machines need to synchronise their wash cycles.
Ultramega 1st Gear December 13, 2011 Share December 13, 2011 (edited) Another query about front loading. Shld get washing n dryer (2-in-1) or shld get separately? Shld get jap, Korean or European brand? Me also looking for 1 as my current is about to go. Thks Usually the drying capacity is a fraction of the washing capacity so it is in fact not fully automatic (even if they say so). For example, washing capacity is 8kg, drying capacity is 4kg.... means if you wash a full load, upon completion of wash cycle, u need to take half the clothes out, "dryer" the other half still inside, once done take out dried half, put the half you took out back in (still wet), dryer again. You end up doing more work than having separate washer and dryer. Edited December 13, 2011 by Ultramega
5936 1st Gear January 17, 2012 Author Share January 17, 2012 Gave my old trusty AEG washine machine one last chance. It was noisy during wash cycle, even louder when spinning. It generated loud rotating sound if I put in more than 2kg+ of laundry. Sounded the same like when you overload the machine. Opened the rear panel and traced the rough turning sound from motor. To be exact, its the bearing from the motor drive shaft. WD40 and grease save my machine and most of all $$$$. Hope to use for another 2-3 years. Yup, washing times for front load are generally longer than top loading. My whirlpool fron tload washer takes abt 2 hrs for a full load. However, front load washers are gentler on clothes, and they use less water as well.
Shanhz 3rd Gear February 18, 2012 Share February 18, 2012 thanks bros for the info i've calculated the water usage. not much for any normal washing machine. we wash our clothes average once a day, i calculated the water costs only about $2-3/mth. so the water savings is insignificant. but the "gentle" on clothes sounds good. ↡ Advertisement
