Unidentified 1st Gear December 17, 2011 Share December 17, 2011 (edited) MRT breaks down again By S Ramesh & Alvina Soh | Posted: 17 December 2011 0739 hrs SINGAPORE: Train services between Toa Payoh and Marina Bay stations have been disrupted, in a third day of service breakdown for Singapore Mass Rapid Transit (SMRT). SMRT said in a statement on Saturday that as of 8.25 am, there is no southbound train service between those stations. Commuters have been advised to use other transport modes or take bus bridging services provided. The northbound service from Raffles Place to Jurong East station is available. Calls to the Channel NewsAsia hotline of the disruption of service started coming in at about 7.00 am. One caller, Jeannie said that at about 6.50am, she and other passengers who were in a train near City Hall MRT were asked to evacuate the train and had to walk along the tunnel after "the doors got stuck". Another caller said at 7.21 am, when service on the North-South Line broke down towards Marina Bay, an announcement was made about the breakdown but no reason was given. - CNA/cc --------------------------- truly world class. NOW WALKING IN A MRT TUNNEL IS A FAVORITE PASTIME FOR SINGAPOREANS!!!!! Edited December 17, 2011 by Unidentified

SimonTan 2nd Gear December 17, 2011 Share December 17, 2011 The MRT is the symbolic of the dragon and lifeline flow for Singapore. Now seems like got artery choke and cholesterol built up. Could be an Omen, as some superstitious people will want to relate it with something important going happen in Singapore soon.
2009k Neutral Newbie December 17, 2011 Share December 17, 2011 This is ridiculous and uniquely Singapore. Lots of countries with Metro, I think we have the highest breakdown per km of track and per number of commuters... After all these breakdowns, the top mgt in SMRT still standing tall and smiling at their CPF statement and million dollars in bank? Is this the mediocrity PAP is talking about? I love word definition with examples and illustrations, aid learning.

KARTer 2nd Gear December 17, 2011 Share December 17, 2011 If they could not find a sabotageur then I think CEO and her team of incompetent engineers and comms got to go. not so easy -- recent breakdowns were the results of past years incompetent performance (sadly undetected) before the sack, make sure they vomit out past bonuses which were obviously undeserd......
