New Subaru XV

Thank for the info too, are they still clearing their 2015 stock? Now already April liao, they still have so many last year stock?

Hope that the price will come down to 92k or below again, as some of the brother here got for their car, keeping my finger cross, have until beginning of next year to change my car.

Aiming for that price range too bro..not sure if it is achievable. Seems like up trend in the last 2 biddings.

 

Any XV owners can share their driving experience in terms of power of the car? Felt sluggish during the test drive but am not looking to race with it. .just wonder if any issues with overtaking and change lanes on the highway.

It's reasonable once you get the hang of the cvt and the engine loosens up after the first few rounds of servicing. 

 

The main sluggish feeling is when i mash the accelerator down. Cvt's don't like that. 

You just need to press enough and then increase progressively from there.

It's OEM - I doubt Subaru will allow the original brand to appear.

That what Subaru does for other OEM parts that they source from elsewhere - e.g. Subaru also sell some Thule accessories but re-brand as Subaru.

Only in some instance - say, special editions - will they purposely use parts with the original branding - e.g. Brembo brakes, Bose sound system, Recaro seats.

 

Having said that, the XV rims are quite special - esp. when it first came out.

Now, however, many of the other SUVs are starting to copy this type of funky design.

are they very few xv on the road?

 

when i start to eye a honda vezel, i see it almost everyday on the road; then when i switch to qashqai, samething, i see it almost everyday.  but when i finally decided on xv, i try searching for one whenever i am on the road, i hardly see one.  many forester though.

Those who know Subaru brand know thru WRX and Forester XT.

They want Turbo when they buy Subaru.

The rest of the people don't know about Subaru.

 

XV no turbo. So most of those who know about Subaru not buying it.

To them, XV is laksa without hum.

 

But to the few of us who buy XV,we don't compare XV to WRX or Forester XT.

We compare to QQ and Vezel and find that XV better.

 

So XV is sort of a secret good-value SUV that only a few of us know about.

Anyone service their XV at outside workshop once warranty expire? I'm the type who does that for my present car (Latio). Wondering if XV is as easy to service as the latio. no need any special attention?

Well said jg2000. However honestly past couple of weeks I see quite a number of XVs as well on the road. The 2016 FL version has attracted more buyers it seems. Its no doubt a good value for money SUV.

I enjoy my laksa without hum all the time leh, so not everyone is a hum fan I suppose. However my laksa must have lots of fish cake, prawns and towgay though. :)

 

As a past Subaru owner, I happen to test drive this car some time early year, and I must say this is a really understated great value Cat A car. I congratulate those who bought this ride, given that the AD Motor Image is pretty well established in Singapore. A safe and proven choice.

Doubt if anyone has reached warranty expiry yet for XV.  You need to check in Forester forum to get any answers.

 

When compared to Vezel and QQ, XV is very simple basic engine.

It does not have the direct fuel injection like Vezel.

It does not have turbo like QQ.

Hence, easy to service.  (The only additional servicing compared to normal car is extra points to lubricate for the AWD).

 

However, as with all cars, best to go to workshops that specialise in that brand of car - e.g. different japanese brand cars use different types of CVTs which use different transmission oils - so the cheapest are from those workshops that specialise and stock larger quantities.

For Subaru, one possibility for workshop is BKS http://www.bksmotorworks.com/contact.php - AMK Autopoint and Woodlands

There are another 2 more other workshops (BMS? SPT?) at least in the same location of AMK Autopoint.

Do some research to see which one is best.

Hum is not good for your health. Same goes with Turbo, not good for your wallet (FC)..
