Still using 5-speeder g/box? Sigh.

Looks? Sigh.

Safety features like VSC or curtain airbags? Maybe in 2.0L nia.

A Hyundai or Kia now looks more interesting than the Honda.

The new civic is still using 5-speed, but maybe cause the civic comes with i-vtec which make it better also?! [:/]

Well, the Civic sure has better engine dynamics than Elantra and Forte but I am not comparing which one is faster or smoother. Let's compare horsepower between the two. Anyway, I sure the two Korean brands have gained internaitonal recognition and popularity and any false details regarding their engine output would be detrimental to their reputation. There are so many dyno shops and mod experts around the world and if there is a confirmed false engine output found, there would be a big hoo-haa long ago.

crankshaft output is only half the story , theres the gearbox then the setup then the ecu ... also u judge by usable figures not peak hp

How about Komoco bring in the 1.6 GDI with 140hp, coupled with Elantra's 6-speed, isn't it even better? :)

Thats why people said no improvement. Yesteryears engines better than new ones.

the best was the EG and EK series.

but fark the emissions la.

its not even mandated. so why change to hybrid?

Honestly i will take the HP figures from Hyundai and Kia with a pinch of salt.

We do not know what their power curves look like, and their target market are not the kind of people to stick their cars onto dynos to verify if they are accurate...

I used to drive my fathers car occasionally, & its the last gen dullville cerato. The look is hard to love, but the engine & gearbox is quite good. Don't need to take it with pinch of salt. Cannot compare with civi cause I never drivern before, but I hate to admit, but th eengine is better (more powerful), & gearbox are better than my first car, the Lancer GLX. It even comes with 4 disc brakes, while I had drums on the back.

I can imagine the new cars from KIA & Hyundai being improved, with better looks of course.

I am not looking for Korean car in the foreseeable future, cause I can afford a little more refinement & higher spec cars, but good must admit meh.

Last time I exclusively buy only Nokia Cellphones, they were the best then, & combat proven, but I will not get a Nokia phone this days, as there are better options now.

The Japanese cars are just not attractive now, not just in Singapore, but other places as well. They also have to get their priority right, & they put too litlte effort in their B&B line up & spend to much time on low volume sport & niche cars.

I think you are right. Think there are cars with better hp than others but no matter how hard you step, the response is slow.

Interesting to see these hardcore Honda Fans which had not upgrade after so many years...

Does it mean that they are people which had been left behind?

don't like that honda makes good cars really [:)]

just that if they continue to stay out of FI they'll become dinosaur one day. to be fair, toyota stays the same too isn't it? [grouphug]

There's a large percentage of the car buying population that treat a car simply as A to B transport. That's the mkt that boring ol' toyota fills nicely - reliable, inoffensive, simple to understand, not very expensive, very beige.

The mkt segment of ppl who buy cars that they enjoy driving is much smaller. And there are certainly many options available out there that does the job better (and cheaper) than a honda nowadays.

True, if a person simply just want a reliable, simple, decent space and not so expensive car to point A to point B, toyota cars really fit the bill, esp their altis. [rolleyes]

lololol, looks like my comparison is really taken out of context. I am comparing paper specs and there are ppl who mentioned crankshaft output, engine response, ECU, gearbox, and what target market won't bring them into dyno shops, etc. Alright, I won't argue further and shall let the global market decides whether who has really lost the game. :)

actually BNB doesnt give them money.

its their sports cars.

but in singapore, its so expensive which is why we see people more particular about BNB cars.

with 30K, i can buy an evo FOR LIFE.

here, we pay 100k for 10 years.

I may be wrong and some bros may fill me in on this, but didn't Kia/Hyundai got sued in the US sometime last year for overstating their specs?
