Galantspeedz Turbocharged February 7, 2012 Share February 7, 2012 I used to frequent theDugOut. Their forum is very open, but the members and Mods are quite on the ball. Even if the action is not immediate, members will not feed trolls, will redirect questions, discussions to proper threads. Mods also do plenty of clean ups day-in-day-out, warnings and bans come in thick and fast for blatant flouting of forum rules. i think part of the reason is the current mods are busier and also more tolerant towards nonsencisal postings...... There may be double standards set by older members of the forum who form a group though many years of frenship, so does the mean that new members are not welcome? when some older members use vulgarities or make pseudo racist remarks, it's in jest but when others do the same, it's trolling...it's all a matter of perception. Most others feel the same way. If your take here is to entertain, then restict yoruself to your thread. You dun see TCSS nonsense going on ad nauseum in other threads. They stick to that one thread. Nothing abt seniority or such, but the seniors have seen it change, and newbies or what, if this place is not entertaining then bugger off. I hve tolerated your sammyboy nonsense far enough, with all the sex changes and want for attention, there is a threshold at which ppl can sustain and after that, it does not become any more entertaining , but rather, ab loody nuisance. So basically 2 problems: 1) too many trolls 2) too little auto-related discussions Any suggestions on how to solve? For trolls, what we can do is to : - appoint new mods that are more "on the ball" - implement a "zap & reward system" whereby all forumers above a certain level becomes a mod of some sort with limited powers. Any examples of forums that does it this way? Constructive feedback please. 1) kill the trolls, period. 2) too many non auto related topics springing up, remove lite and ezy from showing in the main page. zap and reward? sounds like sammy forum forumers above a certain level becomes mod just promotes spamming no? i rather mods be chosen based on merits and contribution rather than just posting levels. what you guys also need to do is get mods for that lite and ezy folder and police it strictly. also do control who can start topics there, it is getting alittle out of hand the topics that are spring up in that folder. it is fine when useful information is shared or open for discussion, but the nonsensical ones should really not even be started. thus maybe lite and ezy folder should be spilt into sections or create a rubbish thread. They are many others than those 2 gender-confused chaps. Recently discovered this 'ignore' function after so many years in MCF. After turning them on for some trolls, it is like putting on noise-cancellation earphones for the very first time...pure bliss. It is not perfect. You can still see their posts when another use quote reply, but I think it is good enuf for me now. The day I will find MCF beyond hope is when I asked for tyres recommendation and I get "Durex".
