Dark 5th Gear February 15, 2012 Share February 15, 2012 Well, LTA was able to stop all the Euro-type license plate, why not illegal mods on lightings? Simple reason is license plate affect their ability to capture with their ERP or red light camera while illegal lighting do not affect them as much. If you are the guy sitting at LTA, which one would you clamp down first?

Aaron_soh80 1st Gear February 15, 2012 Share February 15, 2012 Dear Fellow SG Drivers, We all like to dress up our cars to look the best and one of them are the headlights and bulb changes. For the past few years, those newer white lighted bulbs or headlights have been a favorite for many as it really gives the car a nice cosmetic boost. However, pls note that some of these lights are very bright and super blinding and I believe many drivers have experienced irritating blinding lights coming from behind or the other side of the road. Some of them even turned on their super blinding fog lights to boast, making their cars really monster looking. I sincerely ask our fellow drivers to think about these lights and not to get them so so bright and blinding to other road users. I almost got into an accident, when a Subaru turned into my opposite lane and caused a momentarily blinding that made me turned my head away and almost knocked into another car. It is really painful to be shone at when you have to concentrate on the road. Its really not friendly to other drivers during night driving. Thanks for reading :) White light nicer than orange lay.. but i very zhi tong.. only change 6k crystal blue light..anway White light or stock light is ok..as long as they dun turn on high beam/HID fog light.. i think will be fine.. Deckbuild 6th Gear February 15, 2012 Share February 15, 2012 Most rear view mirror have this anti glare function, for cheapo cars like my matrix, I just have to flip it up or down depend on which angle you set it to initially, for high end cars it's auto. So why the need of the anti glare shade? It's hard to observe idiots that drive black car and don't turn on light with that shade.
Joajas Neutral Newbie February 15, 2012 Share February 15, 2012 good timing to bring up my concern. i have changed normal bulbs a few times. all cheap normal ones. after the latest change, i notice my right side so much brighter than my left. i suspect the fella who changed my bulb accidentally c--k up the height. now and then i have ppl looking at me and even let me go before shining my headlight from behind.. i duno how to balance both side lights to normal height... not possible to go back to the fella who changed my bulb cuz its damn far i only went there the last time cuz i was in the area. how to adjust and test bulb shining height? It is unlikely that that the mechanic messed with the height adjustment, check the offending bulb yourself. Turn off the lights, look at the bulbs from the front of your car through the headlamp, is the offending bulb slanted? It is likely that the mechanic did not install properly, thus the offending bulb is sitting incorrectly in the hole.
Deckbuild 6th Gear February 15, 2012 Share February 15, 2012 and some doesn't even bother to turn on anything. I suspect they forgot due to illuminated dashboard. Seriously this is a design flaw, not sure which car manufacturer came out with this. When I first saw Toyota with this type of dash I'm shaking head, most driver forgot to turn on headlight because they thought they have done so... Accord Clutched February 15, 2012 Share February 15, 2012 100% agree..not a matter of what type of lights or colour of light. All lights are glaring, it a matter of the angle adjustment of the headlight...always got ppl not sure still want anyhow complain

Ak7887 1st Gear March 3, 2012 Author Share March 3, 2012 A reply from LTA...... We would like to thank you for sharing your views with us. Our enforcement officers have been working closely with the Traffic Police to conduct blitzes against vehicles with illegal modifications. Such blitzes are carried out on the roads all over the island on a regular basis. We would like to assure you that our enforcement officers will not hesitate to take appropriate action against vehicles with illegally fitted lightings. Vehicle lightings are also checked during mandatory periodic vehicle inspections. Vehicles fitted with lightings that do not comply with our vehicle lighting requirements would not be allowed to pass the inspections. We recognised that vehicle owners may modify their vehicle for many reasons. Whatever the reason may be, be it to improve the vehicle's performance or to create a distinctive or customised appearance, vehicle owners are to ensure that the modifications meet requirements of the LTA. To create awareness, LTA has published a set of guidelines in the ONE.MOTORING portal to advise motorists on the common vehicle modifications. For more information, please refer to following website: http://www.onemotoring.com.sg/publish/onem...tion_guide.html Vehicle owners who fail to comply with the requirements may face a maximum Court fine of $1,000 or 3 months' imprisonment upon conviction in Court. Can LTA advice when they check? I have never seen LTA checking headlights before.
