13177 Hypersonic January 4, 2016 Share January 4, 2016 not convenience cos you need to change to LRT then DTL. EW line just come out from one train and walk into another train. In this case DTL will become another useless system, which doesn't help lessen the crowds from the main NS/EW line. ↡ Advertisement

I thought it was for people staying in BP and BT area going to town.
Mustank Hypersonic January 4, 2016 Share January 4, 2016 In this case DTL will become another useless system, which doesn't help lessen the crowds from the main NS/EW line. the main load of people are from the outskirts like jurong, CCK, woodlands, ponggol, tampines they should build lines to from these areas

I'd be surprised if LTA/SMRT/Gov hadn't done their homework with traffic surveys etc before deciding on routing of DTL. Blueray Hypersonic January 4, 2016 Share January 4, 2016 I think we can assume that take up will generally be poor for primary school - no matter how good the public transport is: 1. RGPS, 2. ACS (Pri) 3. SCGS (Pri) JC should be already almost fully on public transport and will definitely be glad if they stay anywhere along that MRT line 1. HCJC 2. NJC Secondary school chaps might take some time to convert (today is just the first day so pang chance) 1. HCJC (secondary section) 2. NJC (secondary section) 3. SCGS (Secondary section) 4. ACS (secondary section) Anyone else? MGS Pei Hwa Presbyterian

Don't even need traffic surveys. Just request MOE to disclose all the students' addresses can already.

Looks like tis portion of DTL is a white elephant. Most of d schools along here r attended by elites n chauffeur driven. Bad planning.

Then it will be less crowded for working people who work in town area to take the DTL to work. Cause if no DTL, people staying that area is either take bus or go to NS/EW line to go city area. But i guess the DTL doesn't help much of reducing the high volume of people at JE mrt transferring towards city and bt batok, cause the super jam packed situation during the peak hours still the same even after DTL has opened. Showster Twincharged January 5, 2016 Share January 5, 2016 The roads also... It was starkly different from yesterday. Maybe some people took leave to send their children to school yesterday so there were fewer vehicles running during peak hours. Showster Twincharged January 5, 2016 Share January 5, 2016 Hmm, now I am beginning to shudder thinking how heavy traffic will be from Wednesday onwards. Gotta come out even earlier. Heavy traffic you can still relax in your own car lah, no need to fear train break down or get sardine with people in the train. Lol.
Showster Twincharged January 5, 2016 Share January 5, 2016 Well, true and false... Especially for vehicles who need to do U-turns during peak hours. Need to siam the yellow boxes and pedestrian crossing. Just kenna 6 points recently because somebody cut into my lane to avoid LTA camera and trapped my car. Much also depends on where one lives. But overall, if need to fetch young children, will be tougher to use MRT and buses than to drive. Whether need to fetch young kids or not, taking public transport still quite frustrating as compared to drive. Esp when our public transport is so unreliable now. Feel that taking public transport here is for short distance only, if for long distance quite hassle and discomfort.
