I've tried the Quelima SQ13, n just wanna say dun waste your time with it...

I'm also looking at this option of recording the side view (on top of my current Thinkware F800 pro covering front+rear).

Seems like we may need 2 camera attach to each A-pillar pointing towards the opposite direction. So I'm looking for something small to avoid creating a clutter on the windscreen. So my search criteria will be, no LCD screen, small size, 1080p/30fps & cam mount need to be adjustable in all direction.

Unfortunately, all except G6 doesn't come with sample video showing both day and night quality. But G6 is interesting since they do have a short video showing the 360 night view.

Now thinking which one should I try.

I suggest you use some 3rd party service (e.g. Ezbuy) if you have never use Taobao before. Of course, might be more expensive, but easier to transact especially if you can't read Mandarin well.

By the way, after reading users' comments of the models listed in my previous post:

1. V714 - seems like very poor lowlight video (based on comments and some photos shared by other user). 2nd point, it seems that it doesn't have any parking mode (e.g. motion and impact detection), thus, it maybe a drain on your battery if you want parking mode.

2. Aigo-D68 - Even daylight, I find the quality so-so, seems a bit "blur".

3. AG3 seems OK but most expensive. And it does comes with parking mode.

Thanks

Thanks for your findings bro.. looks like I still need to search for the side cams as these may be small enough, but not clear enough..n my budget is less than sgd 30 per cam , so these may be overpriced too.. but thanks again for your info..

I've just gotten a new car and I have not used a in-car recording device for my old car for around 10 years.

Wondering if it's necessary for the back-view since anyone bumping to your back is at fault. Front-view is probably more meaningful?

Can anyone share a recommendation of a reliable recording device based on experience, preferably no hassle installation, no maintenance and lasting a long time?

Thanks in advance!

True, Been using for both my cars till now (6yrs) no glitch at all. 24/7

Have you tried other devices in order to provide a true comparison?

This camera serve me 24/7 recordings with no problem. No additional backup battery needed n clear recording. My recent branded still need addn batt to backup JUST for 24hrs. If left car unattented for more days, recording fail!. My previous can records till back from a week holidays. That need not compare further.

I strongly recommend front and back cameras. Not all rear ended accident are straightforward.

I managed to claim 100% in my recent accident because of my rear camera footage. It clearly showed the other car banged into my righr rear wheel fender while he was changing lane behind me. The front footage only shown my car was jerked to the left abit due to the impact.

Think about it if your budget allows. I'm speaking from my own experience.

Some scenario(s) where rear cam will help:

1. Parallel parking whereby the rear vehicle side swap during his exit from the lot (e.g. Geylang Lorong area)

2. In carparks (e.g. Vivovity basement carpark) where there isn't any rear stopper between rows, thus, there's a chance a vehicle will bang into your rear during parking

3. Chain collision whereby you are able to stop in time but still bang onto the front vehicle due to the follow-up bang from the rear vehicle

4. In situation whereby you park "head-in" (e.g. in Malaysia)

5. During reverse situation whereby you are clear to reverse, however, some e-scooters/cyclist/pedestrian dash into your rear and caused an accident

Add one more which happened to me. Gardener watering plants behind ur car and his hose happened to be trapped under the wheel beside your vehicle. He ended up scratching the side of my car with his hose as he kept pulling it, slapping against my vehicle in the process of trying to free it. Didn't pursue it as i didn't have rear camera at that time, only captured the front and the slapping sound. [bigcry]
