ATF Change

I just called City Auto to get the price for the above and it's $215 (With GST)... Includes 4L of ATF, labour and filter? I've not heard of a filter for ATF so anyone out there can enlighten me about this?

there is a filter for AT, but on my veh it was stated as non consumables actually.

but many bros here (and WS) practice changing it as well when changing ATF.

The last I changed ATF they just drain and topped up... No filters was changed as far as I can see (was there for the whole process)...

yes, that should be OK.

but in case you're wondering here's something:

i am more cat.....

 

after changing and topping up, i insists they unplug the hose at the radiator and starts the engine. Let the used brownish fluid flows out.

 

Switch off the engine and plug back once the color of the fluid turns red.

 

 

This way, the old AT fluid in the torque converter will also be rained out too.

 

Lastly, top up with new fluid again as torque converter hold quite an amount of AT fluid.

i didnt know changing ATF need to change filter.

I had been changing ATF every 30,000km or every year, just drain and refill.

unless your mileage is high. otherwise 30k drain and fills should see your filter last till at least 120k

My ATF is only $35 bucks when you know which brand to buy.

 

Nowadays, the workshop just quote and hope you can chop. How unethical !!!

I changed my ATF for $110 only, only ATF and labour only though.

I recently did my 80K servicing and they workshop quoted me $65 for ATF excluding the servicing package of $135.......

What abt Atf for odyssey? Was quoted $25 per litre and will require 8-10 litres for flush and top up.

do what I did and all you need is 6 bottles at $8.50/bottle.

 

labour is probably 20 bucks.
