if u see the timing for the $6 erp, it's from 830 to 9am only. be smart, wake up earlier and drive in earlier.

from own observations, I find that SG ppl likes to go office rather late.

another thing, garment is pushing ppl to stay in punggol, sengkang. those ppl are screwed.........

i pity drivers from ang mo kio, serangoon, etc that frequent CTE to towns

even $10 a pop will still jam like siao ...

imho, CTE is the MOST congested expressway in singapore

of course the usual PIE, AYE, ECP, that connect east, west, central also jam but CTE is the WORST and most expensive right?

One day one cant afford to pay his ERP charges on his credit card bill.

Then default payment and let the banks pay for it... Or can do a balance transfer... Anyway the banks are spam calling everyday asking ppl to do that...

After awhile, people will still lan lan suck thumb pay the ERP one. I mean you've bought a car and your work requires you to pass through that ERP gantry. You don't have a choice one. Cannot be put the car at home one, unless your workplace and home is right next to MRT.

Not too long ago, taxi increase fare, so many ppl post on facebook don't wanna take cab, ban this particular taxi company, yadda yadda...... in the end, all also lan lan suck thumb take cab as usual now. The latest Barclay League $59.90 also same thing, complain complain, but all will lan lan suck thumb still pay.

Knn, Singaporeans dunno how many thumbs to suck to date. [laugh]

U right man! All lan lan suck thumb eat hor fun, eat hor fun liao post forlum.

ERP rates at 3 locations revised

AsiaOne | Monday, Jul 29, 2013

SINGAPORE - The Land Transport Authority (LTA) will be revising Electronic Road Pricing (ERP) rates at three locations after completing its quarterly review of traffic conditions on ERP-priced roads and expressways.

From 7am to 7.30am, rates for southbound CTE after Braddell Road & PIE slip road into southbound CTE (4 gantries) will increase to $1. From 7.30am to 8.30am, it will be increased by $1 from the current $4.

Meanwhile, for Northbound CTE before PIE, the rate will increase by $0.50 to $1 from 5.30pm to 6pm and by $1 from 6pm to 6.30pm to $2.

ECP (Fort Road) & KPE slip road onto ECP (2 gantries) will see an increase of $1 from the current $5 from 8.30am to 9am.

The revised rates will apply from Monday, Aug 5. The rates for the other gantries will remain unchanged.

The next ERP review will take place in Nov 2013 for the 4th quarterly rate review of 2013.

THE use of Electronic Road Pricing (ERP) has made it possible for more Singaporeans to own cars.

Responding to a question for written reply in Parliament on Monday, Transport Minister Raymond Lim said this is reflected in the growth of Singapore's car population from 680,000 in 1997 to 800,000 in 2006.

Dr Fatimah Lateef, MP for Marine Parade GRC, had asked the Minister if the ERP scheme has met the objectives that it was meant to achieve and if it has improved the traffic flow on expressways especially during peak hours.

In his reply, Mr Lim said since its implementation in 1998, ERP has been effective in maintaining average travel speeds on priced roads within the optimal speed range through regular reviews and rate adjustments. For example, average speeds on the expressways have remained at above 45km/h during peak hours.

"The use of ERP to manage traffic has made it possible for more Singaporeans to own cars than we otherwise could, and our vehicle population has grown from 680,000 in 1997 to 800,000 in 2006," he added.

"It has also allowed the Government to rely more on car usage charges and less on car ownership taxes to manage traffic demand, and as a result, vehicle ownership taxes have been reduced. "

The Ministers said the government will continue with a holistic and integrated approach using all the tools available to keep the roads smooth-flowing. These include building more roads, regulating vehicle growth, implementing traffic engineering solutions, managing traffic demand through ERP and promoting the use of public transport.

It's true the car population has grown, so has the jam! [mad] [mad]

Maybe 5% will adjust their schedule and leave home earlier or later to save the $1, after 2 months, they go back to usual routine and just pay... this is called boiling the frog alive, ie. milking. But then better than doing nothing and allowing more traffic to build up, without ERP, it will be worse.

When you spend $200k on a car, what is $1 more a day for most drivers?

errr.. the old CBD system seemed to work better against trafic jam. every car would have to be "full load" before entering the CBD. Behaviour slightly different as drivers needed to "hunt" for passengers..if not cannot enter.. don't hunt, then don't drive:D

Now, just pay loh..most can afford and would pay for the convenience.. I wonder if it is any difference without ERP??

Overheard on the radio this morning, one ERP gantry will increased from $5 currently to $6!!! :o Seems like many roads still jams despite of ERP and yet LTA still find this ERP system works perfectly! [shakehead]
