Kianbeng Clutched December 8, 2012 Share December 8, 2012 MAF sensor replacement can DIY . OIxygen sensor a bit more labour involved. I changed MAF and O2 sensors, DIY. But of course, different makes, different prices.... Actually these are all quite easy to change. MAF is at the intake hose usually after the air filter box. O2, for some cars have 2. before and after CAT. Usually just a screw in part with a socket for the wires.

I think since 1980s already got O2 sensors in many cars. Bro, cars are much more sophisticated than you think they are.

Yeobh 4th Gear December 9, 2012 Share December 9, 2012 Fault code reader indicates o2 sensor maybe at fault, it's not 100% ,maybe it can be due to connection and other problems created upstream from O2 to on-board computer. The next task is to do a O2 simulation test ( off course with a O2 simulator) to confirm the O2 is unable to switch from close to open loop. Until then, do not wast yr money, many shop mech alway shoot from their hips, after all it's the customers money and time.
Yeobh 4th Gear December 9, 2012 Share December 9, 2012 You will be surprise to see the latest Landrovers and other US off road vehicles operating out in many oil palm plantations. Watch Indonesia and Philippines, these two countries will be the rising stars among the ASEAN countries and whole of Asia Pacific regions. Burma will come along but need another decade to "clean up " and do catch up.

Yeobh 4th Gear December 9, 2012 Share December 9, 2012 (edited) I am not sure whether there is any shop has this tester. Shops in Singapore hardly invest in diagnostic tools. Edited December 9, 2012 by Yeobh

Yeobh 4th Gear December 9, 2012 Share December 9, 2012 Don't worry, the most the car will just go into limp mode - that means that you will be unable to drive at cruising speed. Once you managed to stop, the car will refuse to start again , that's all. If the O2 sensors are faulty, yr fuel consumption will go up, as the fuel monitoring system is unable to switch from rich to lead. Just monitor you fuel consumption over few weeks, chances you have have the telltale sign of a faulty O2 sensor.
