Ah_Zai 3rd Gear December 8, 2012 Share December 8, 2012 Can anyone help to translate what this Ah Tiong posted? I like the bold part. I can roughly understand what the poster is saying in Chinese. I doubt I can eloquently translate to English though. For e.g: how do you translate "挂羊头卖狗肉"? From: http://bbs.sgchinese.net/thread-6107430-2-2.html ↡ Advertisement
Damienic 5th Gear December 8, 2012 Share December 8, 2012 Haha as if they are full of compassion. Just ask themselves what ever happen to the toddler who was run over by vehicles multiples times and no one lifted a finger to help? And the countless food scandals like melamine and so on. We Singaporeans are a selfish bunch but still not as callous and cold blooded as they are. They should look at themselves in the mirror first. For the milk powder case, high speed train crash case, etc. etc. they are also wary about speaking out. They could get into trouble with their authorities. A few journalists who were bold enough to highlight these cases and do some investigation, ended up being targeted for arrest under all kinds of trumped up charges. That's how their country works... Want to talk about opposition?? The ah tiong don't know what is 'opposition' because officially there is none in their country! Which country in the world u can go and call their people dogs and have their ruling government MP support you and ask his own countrymen to reflect on themselves? I personally have the experience of working with an engineer from PRC who came over for training... They are so hungry for info, and expressed joy at being able to access online info that was banned in PRC, as well as free access to websites like facebook, youtube, and search engines that don't give 0 results when they keyed in banned terms like tibet+dalai lama or tiananmen+square+incident. The average, educated PRC person is not dumb or hoodwinked by propaganda, except that getting truthful, objective info is tough, and they'd rather keep quiet than get into serious trouble. PRC is still a country where you can just 'disappear' if happen to offend the authorities or somebody powerful and influential.
