Ley-Les Neutral Newbie December 30, 2012 Share December 30, 2012 I just used my spare tire once and it was a breeze that I got it because I might end up helpless in the road without it. ↡ Advertisement
Pisces69 6th Gear December 30, 2012 Share December 30, 2012 Same here, a few months back while changing new tyres time, I asked the tyre shop boss to check my spare. His worker took it out and found there was totally no air inside! I guess the spare tyre is often neglected because it is not easy to access to it, especially those in the boot. From now onwards I will make it a point to pump the spare whenever I am doing servicing or doing tyre rotation... My spare is buried under a couple of layers in e boot so very hard to access n pump. Whenever i do chk its usually very soft. I do hv a foot pump in e boot so if i need i just pump it up. Now i use nitrogen n ask shop to pump e spare too so it sud keep its pressure much longer. But i still hv e foot pump just in case.
Pisces69 6th Gear December 30, 2012 Share December 30, 2012 just noticed today...front 220kpa, back 210, spare 420. Where do u see it says yr spare is 420kpa?
Pisces69 6th Gear December 30, 2012 Share December 30, 2012 Go MY, better buy one spare and put in the boot. Does yr boot hv a proper wheel well fr a full sized spare?
Pisces69 6th Gear December 30, 2012 Share December 30, 2012 I want to forget but cannot. Spare tyre pressure will sure increase after trip to msia. Hahaha... But yr "spare" is filled wh seafood... fish head curry n all kinds of nice food...not air.
Phluvcat 6th Gear December 30, 2012 Share December 30, 2012 Where do u see it says yr spare is 420kpa? by the side of the driver's door opening. but I always pump 240 front, 235 rear. Yea, took out all the barang barang in my boot, the cloth, the board, then the spare tyre and ended up vacuuming the cavity and the boot. But my colleague's Mazda 3 does not state the spare tyre pressure and his recommended rear tyre pressure is higher than the recommended front pressure. But the recommended pressure also depends on the load you are going to put in the car right? Mine has 2 recommended pressures. One set is for those who drive alone or have 1 passenger in front most of the time. The other is for those who always fill up all the 4 seats. Mine also never state pressure for the spare so I just pump to the max pressure stated on the spare.
Gohsj89 1st Gear December 30, 2012 Share December 30, 2012 My car came with full size matching spare wheel and I include the spare wheel in tire rotation. The spare tire always properly inflated. so means when your tyre wears out, you need to change all 5?
0wnage 2nd Gear December 30, 2012 Share December 30, 2012 so means when your tyre wears out, you need to change all 5? I don't think anyone does that. A spare isn't really needed in singapore when you're a short drive away from a tyre shop. Otherwise, calling for help isn't that hard either.
Nzy Twincharged December 30, 2012 Share December 30, 2012 (edited) so means when your tyre wears out, you need to change all 5? Yep. My family does that with all our cars that come with full sized spare as well. But can't do that with some of our cars cuz they come with those space saver. So i think yr spare tire pressure is stated only fr those donut or spacesaver spare then. Fr normal spare i just pump abt 5kpa above what is recommended fr front or rear tire whichever is higher. And i carry a tire pressure gauge to adjust e spare tire b4 i mount it.

Gnahp Turbocharged December 30, 2012 Share December 30, 2012 so means when your tyre wears out, you need to change all 5? Yes, all five will wear evenly at the end.

Nzy Twincharged December 30, 2012 Share December 30, 2012 isnt it overkill? Ever seen a spare which was not used for many years and when the owner wanted to use it the rubber was all hard and brittle? End up like not having spare.
