frankly lah....he can say all he want...the fact still remain that he is a product from the PAP regime....educate under their system...work under their system....retired under their system ......all his life...he did nothing when he was enjoying all these........now is all cheap talk..

I used to be very skeptical about anyone who's associated with PAP. How can there be any good from this regime..or why would anyone who want to serve and help the people join and agree with a party which aims in squeezing its middle class downwards citizens bone dry?

But then 2 person changed my perception slightly.

George Yeo and Tan Cheng Bok.

I'm not saying what he said is wrong...just that when he is in the system ...he should do more to correct the wrong...top.performance by following the regime system? Still is only talk now..

While he was with the Admin Service, he is afterall WORKING for the govt. It was not his position to set the direction of the country's policies, but to IMPLEMENT them, which I think.. he did a great job.

It's the MINISTER of the relevant ministry, together with the CABINET, that sets the direction of the policies. While ministry's policies section recommends what shd be done, the final decision maker is still the MINSTER.

This guy said..."What weighs heavily on his mind these days is what kind of Singapore his three grandchildren, aged 15 to 21, will live in years from now. "I want them to live in a Singapore where they can hold their heads high, be of value to the rest of the world to earn their living and not have to kowtow to others"

Sadly that has already happened in banks and factories...where we kowtow to ahem FTs...who bring hordes of their own people to displace us.. [bigcry]

Actually there are many capable people in civil service and private sector, the fact they didn't pick him (and others) to run for office under pap shows the party don't trust them to carry out orders.

Of course it would be nice if they stood for election under opposition or as independents, but they probably feel its not worth the trouble.

I fully agree with what Ngiam Tong Dow says.

Bit by bit we hv these old timers who hv left gharmen service n can speak more freely on what is really happening here.

Singapore a First World Country? HUMBURG.

That was only flashed around by e old man to try to impress us that e p8p has brought sg from 3rd world to 1st world in such a short time.

Again trying to fool us n blowing their own trumpet.

SG has many problems which i dun see them having any real cures.

Now ty just buying time n going by trial n error. Mostly error.

If not fr e pple of sg who hv made huge sacrifices...we wud not hv come this far.

I dun think e gharmen did it all by themselves. In fact many of their policies of old had to b reversed cos after some time it shows ty dun work.
