My adventure last night.

- Went to first outlet at around 11pm. Told by staff the Kitty is sold out (they already distributed coupons beforehand)

- Went to second outlet. Not only is Kitty sold out, the queue is even longer. Manager said some queued as early as 7am.

- Went to a closed MCD to recce. Although they only open at 7am, there was already a queue at around midnight.

- Deciding I was too uncle for this, I surrendered and went home. On my way to the car, I spotted a youth dashing towards the closed MCD while reading updates from his ipad.

- Got news this morning that friend of a friend paid someone to queue overnight. Bought 4 Kittys and flipped everthing on the spot for profit.

Never underestimate the kiasu-ness of Singaporeans. Don't say Olympics, we can probably win a Galatic medal if there were such a thing.

precisely, such commercial activity should be settled with the company and not involve the police

most of those crazily queueing for the kitty are adults rather than children, and this is silly. some of them wants to make a profit out of it, while the rest buy for their kids or they themselves find it cute. this shows singaproeans are fortunate and enjoy good life. other countries the people queue up for hours for ration. anyway, last night i saw images of the queues, i couldnt believe it. give me free i also will throw it away. [laugh]

I think there was probably some crowd disturbance. It was reported in EDMW that there was queue cutting at some branches and even the MCD manager cannot control it.

You don't understand. It is ALL about the overcrowding, herd mentality and contrived/articifical demand. It must look limited, hard to get and everybody-want, then Singaporeans will queue. The queue feeds on itself. To put it more crudely, the objective is to mind f*ck Singaporeans so that money is parted for a product that satisfies a desire that was not there before.
