Do you still wax?

I'm wondering with all these new nano-technology coatings now available on the market, does anyone still prefer to use a traditional wax?

Granted that it doesn't last very long, perhaps 3 months tops for a quality carnauba wax and perhaps more on top of a synthetic sealant, but the look of wax still beats any coating I've seen or used.

What's on your car at the moment and what will you be using next?

I've Opticoat on mine currently but may choose to go with a hybrid coating or back to wax in future. [cool]

Under SG weather, it much depends on the type of parking available for the car.. the best wax will not tahan the 34 degree heat and occasional rain even if its the most durable synthetic wax.. the water and dust will simply coat the shine even if the wax is there..

last time i used some sort of sealant.. claimed to last at least 1 yr.

while i knew it was still there, the day-to-day dust and dirt cover the car up fairly quickly.

nowadays i just apply quick wax right after each wash. don't take me more than 10 minutes each wipe-down.

hundreds vs less than $20 a bottle.

still gleaming as ever.. at least to my untrained eye [laugh]

i still prefer to wax my car. was thinking of opticoat my car previously. But i still have so many bottles of wax left.!! Opticoat will still induce swirls if wash incorrectly and i would still need to polish the swirls off which defeats the purpose of opti coating.

Actually i will feel out of place if I dont touch my car for a month. haha..

polish + wax every month,

compound every year. :)

anyone wants to buy my DA Power System? Bought it previously for tight spots.. But hardly use it as I still prefer my PC.

Its a really good product for beginners. cheap and could last for many many years.....

Bought it only 2 months ago and shipped from the US. Not yet launch in Singapore.

Forget waxes la, heard this is coming to Singapore soon.. it'll displace all waxes and is going viral over America. A spray and wipe DIY sealant. Can't wait to try this s--t. Love the beading! [jawdrop]

Yes, I am higly eager to try this as well. I wrote to Gabriel from Sonax and was told it should be arriving in SG around now.

It looks like a very promising product, like their rim cleaner and nano polish line.

Like yourself, I top up my car with Optimum Instant Detailer & Gloss Enhancer everytime after a wash during the drying process. Looks great and gives that little bit extra protection whilst making it slicker.

It is true that it's not a case of coat and forget so good idea on the quick wax. You must still maintain with regular wash and dry with correct technique. And coatings even though are typically 6H-9H hardness rating, doesn't mean their impervious to bird bombs and harsh chemicals.

Haha...success!

I was hoping to grab some attention with that title and clearly did.

Although, if you want to share your experiences with any other form of waxing, by all means....looking forward to a humorous and entertaining read :)

This one like not bad like. I have a 60USD, but the downside is the pad. You gonna buy back from meguiars. Don't know if it worth the dollar and cents in the long run anot. hmmm. . . ^_^
