frankly , all the ideals and suggestion u read here is just for u to take it as a reference only.

dun tell me, u trust what u read here then what the mech at workshop tell u ?

my advice go find a workshop check it out see what they have to say. if u cannot find a trusted workshop, then go to a few ( 2-3 workshop)

see if they diagosntic the same problem. if really no choice , then go back agent.

lastly my advice is DO NOT GO TO ANY WORKSHOP ANY TELL THEM WAT TO DO.

example: uncle/boss my driveshaft spoil change/repair for me.

Around 70K mileage, i start to exp vibrations. When after a while, I just got used to it. The killer came when I did the 80K maj serv. ENgine mount bery bad shape. cOST $400+. aLSO Changed timing belt for 300+. + change & do the maj stuff like. Told by shop that Korean car is like that, buy much cheaper that Jap counterpart. But manufacturere claws back some by the spare parts. Same theory applies to Taiwanese scooters vs Jap scooters or even Italian BnB scoots.

anyway, after that engine became super smooth. My is 06 1.4a. a few mths back, air con start prob. 3 mths back, top up gas as not cold. 2 weeks back, totally not cold. Just top up gas 1 week ago. Can standby liao.....

I have a 2006 Hyundai, 5 door, Getz with the 1.6 lt motor and five speed gearbox, the problem is that about 80kms per hour the car develops a vibration you can feel it and hear it. It does not come through the steering and I have had the tyres checked and balanced. It is most noticeable when in fourth gear at 80kms, if you put it into fifth which reduces the engine revs the vibration is not as noticeable, then by the time you get to 100kms the vibration is gone. It is also noticeable when accelerating at lower speeds whilst in second and third gear whilst gaining momentum. Have you any suggestions on what it might be and what should I fix or replace first any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

[wave]

Hv yr gerabox checked.

Since mainly in 4th gear, maybe yr 4th gear worn out.

Hv u ever service yr gearbox by change gear oil? Try that n see how.

Better go to a ws that experienced with Getz them better chance th wil know why hv this problem.

Some cars do hv a certain range in RPM where the engine/gearbox wil make more noise n vibrations. This u cannot do much cos its a design charestristic of the car.

Thanks for the tip. As of today........can feel not as cold liao....and have that occasional hissing sound. Think up lorry liao. Was told if just change the magnetic coil and assc parts and cross fingers = $500. If change full set incl comp = 1k [bigcry]

I guess the cars is over 7.5 yrs, cant complain. [:(]

I too had this problem and Had 2 RH Engine mounts replaced in a short time and the problem recurred. In the end I fixed it myself simply by spacing the upper squash plate with a 2mm spacer after removing the locating pips, problem gone and smooth as silk

Sounds like your Right Hand Engine mount - Had a simular issue, all I did spaced the mount with a 2 mm spacer between the Squash plate and the Mount (after removing the locater pips) re assembled it and smooth as silk! The factory replaced the mount in 2 successions that would only fix it for a shot time the spacing has taken all the vibrations out cant feel anything accelerating decelerating - perfect

anyone can tell me how much does it costs to replace the 4 spring coils for my Getz?

One workshop quoted me $100.

Think the shop is called technic autocare or something

Why wud u wan to repalce the coils? [rolleyes]

They easily last >10 years. [confused]

Remember aftermarket coils often u wil have more problems. Many u not well made n can have many silly handling problems. [drivingcar]

My ws also told me only the shock absorber will spoil. Not the coil/spring.

Also heard that changing the spring/coil alone may shorten lifespan of the oem absorber.

Yes those who lower car by using shorter springs wil affect the lifespan of the shocks. [thumbsdown]

Hi bro, I'm having the same issue as well. Can you explain in greater detail where exactly and what kind of spacer to buy? Thanks for the help.
