Kazuo Neutral Newbie November 16, 2013 Author Share November 16, 2013 Sadly not everyone thinks like this. Some people spend alot on fog lamp and HID and save on brakes and tires. Maybe when they skid and crash at least they can see better what they are hitting. I totally agree with you on not to save on brakes and tyres, but I think you have completely missed 2 points here: 1. Find the cause so as to rectify it. If it is camber issue, you can change a million tyres and you still face the same problem 2. Know what's the effect. Say for a set of used tyres which were punctured by nail and patched. The tyres are still safe for use. ↡ Advertisement

Youi can also add steering and suspension as well.Anything to do with driving dynamics. As for a patched tire being as good as a new tire. I heard this before but I cannot comment as I have never studied this before. Maybe other forumers can share their excperience on this.
Pisces69 6th Gear November 17, 2013 Share November 17, 2013 Took a photograph from the web to illustrate The parts labeled A, B, C and D are uneven in the sense that, for example, A is slight higher than B and C is higher than B. Which means that if I look from the side, the shape of the tyre will look jagged, although it is probably 1mm difference in height. Need to feel than can feel the diff. Uneven wear n wavy tire usually caused by worn shock absorbers. If ty r old, hv them checked n changed if necessary. Also poor alignment can cause it. Pisces69 6th Gear December 4, 2013 Share December 4, 2013 I ever saw a Getz with multi tyre sizes. This car had 14 inch tyres throughout.....but mixture of 165/65, 175/65 & 165/70. This is budget car owner. He buy 2nd hand tires for abt $20 each n when a tire is worn, he just go shop n see what ty hv n put it on. Hahaha. As long as he drive super slow, I guess not too dangerous. Hahaha.

Roberttan 5th Gear December 5, 2013 Share December 5, 2013 Life is like gambling Is boils down to how much you bet and what you are betting. I do buy 4D and Toto but no IR x 2 never like to gamble on Brake / tyres which does not help me save much money. I will rather save on paying like entertainment , dress up the car to show others or make yourself special
Karbonphyber 1st Gear December 6, 2013 Share December 6, 2013 It's an interesting topic! I learnt something :)Yes, brakes and tyres are the last thing to save on any motorised transport. safety first!
Brobear 2nd Gear December 6, 2013 Share December 6, 2013 The uneven wear of tyres usually caused by faulty absorbers. But there could also be the possiblity of poor QC tyres. Check the absorbers first, if those are fine, go back to your tyre shop and try to get warranty on those uneven tyres, if the tyres are still within their warranty period. This sounds like a Getz or Vios tyre. Malaysia has a lot including Mich MX series. Cars that use this size usually can also use 175/65/14. This one might be easier to find. Manual says min 79T. 79T will be 165/65 or 175/60. 175/60 seems more common in sg. ↡ Advertisement
