precisely. that time when quizzed, lta defiantly say they would not allow dealers to bring in lower bhp variants of the same model.

the problem is some badge like vw, got so many models that are not yet introduced in Singapore. how do they stop the rot?

again LTA scholars are always warriors in theory, but beaten at the practical level.

Ahemmmm.....they can't even get the simple, low tech signages right at MCE, u expect them to outsmart the German car giants? [laugh][laugh]

Just reflash the ECU for more horses after delivery [sunny]

Like that, can even earn marney for the service centre by doing the reflash

Unexpected for the Sports to be brought down to 122bhp! Whats the point of buying a sports if its the same performance as the TSI?

yeah lo, I tried to be nice not to sneer at them but they are giving us ammunition to belittle them.

Results were more optimistic than what I predicted. Probably dealers went more easy on bidding as they have promised a lot of customers that they will get their cars in CAT A?

I hope people that are doing it are more "quiet" about it.. otherwise, this option will soon be considered illegal soon.

So people buy sports can go tune above 130bhp. new policy failed.

soon you see they will say it is illegal to do changes to ECU and use piggy back..

ECU changes has to be one of the hardest things to detect...

they want to announce that, I think they make fools of themselves because it is almost impossible to detect

remap is quite a common thing amongst a lot of cars here, guess it will get even more popular next month onwards

Well, I wouldn't be surprise if they actually developed something that plugs into your ODB port or somewhere in your car to check on the spot.

Yeah...

But technically difficult and operationally difficult must also be taken into consideration.

They really in a positon to start doing such checks?

imagine they plug it in and want to fine you for remapping your ecu.

but you claimed it was the work of the previous car owner

My guess:

A - up max by $2,999 (-$79 from last round, so I (X))

B - plus minus $2,000 (+$300 from last round, so I (V))

C - plus minus $1,500 (+$1,112 from last round, so I (V))

D - plus not more than $500 (+$715 from last round, so I (X))

E - plus minus $2,000 (-$190 from last round, so I (V))

Physical size is still the best and equitable way to categorize passenger car COE.

Why?

Big size, small/underpowe engine = slow to move off = congestion.

Big size, big engine = fair fair square square = you pay more, no need to explain more.

Small size, small engine = fair fair = you pay average price.

Small size, big engine = pocket rocket = but tendency to wrap trees by hand gunners = pay more for congestion.

Just like exhaust modification all this.. they suspect you have illegal exhaust can ask to send your vehicle to LTA inspection centres to check on the spot.

So many cars running around wif very dark (and obviously illegal) window tint. Even blind man can see its not legit. But so many still get away wif it. So u tink they so onz to go check every car's OBD? [laugh][laugh]

They simply set up a low brainwave, populist, dinosaur rule that's easily circumvented by simple technology. Nuff' said.
