Can I check if Tan Chong advised you to use fully synthetic for 1K servicing? Cos that was not what I was told by them. They said they will change to fully synthetic at 10K and not recommended to change to full syn now.

*shrug

TC was against the idea of using syn oil for 1&5k..... but i personally like to use syn oil. only down side is waste $50 to topup which i dont mind....if u ask me i still think syn oil offer better protection than mineral oil....

Twincharged

It shouldn't be this way. Get TC to fix it during your next servicing.

Ya... Will be bring up this issue during the coming service.

Thanks.

Hi all, I am driving QQ 1.2T for few months now, today one rear tire punctured and the only nearby place is Bukit Batok Autobac. Got tow truck to tow car there just before they closing, and after assess, tire badly punctured and cannot be repair, so have to change both rear tires which cost $310 each for Michellin(they have no other brands). Is it normal or very much expensive? I tried calling a few other shops that are open, all no stock for our tire profile of 215/60/17". Can u guys recommend any other shops which I can get a better rate for other brands in future?

Which series of Michellin tires ? $310 each sounds expensive to me. How's the tire noise for this Michellin ? Better or worst ?

Yes. Suppose to help in parking. xtrail model alrdy have that into their HU.

I got my tpms from Taobao- Steelmate-8866 model. It is a DIY kit. Sync to Ur phone via Bluetooth to read status. Autoblac selling this mode like 400plus? China import in was like 170?

Quiet common for all cars. My old civic behave the same . Safety feature?

Bro Busy_cool,

How's the Steelmate so far? Understand that there are "security" feature that makes stealing the device difficult. But is pumping air as difficult as well?

For the benefits of those reading this forum, do let us know your comments on the series, performance, road noise of the new tires after you collect your car. Thanks in advance.

Btw, I thought changing the tires is a 10 or 15 minutes job, You have to leave your car there overnight ?

It is working well so far.

Last month, i came back from oversea and drove over to my GF house and on the way kanna a nail in my front tyre and the TPMS does alert despite and starting "beeping" with my phone not connected. Pull over and snyc bluetooth for my phone to check which Tyre and manage to patch before it ran flat overnight.

Security wise, they do give you a small spanner to screw the nut behind so that it is "hard" for people to unscrew your cap (Does take some effort if you screw the nut behind tight).

Pumping Air - With the nut screw tight, it does take a bit of effort removing the cap, but i pump my air like once every 2 months? You can monitor the air pressure to determine when you need a good pump.

Something to note, Android user may face issue in customizing the setup to suit your preference (Think app issue,) Apple user did not face such issue. (Do share if i'm wrong on this)

The air pressure also maybe different btw your left and right tyre due to temperature differences. The engine seem to be warmer on the right side for 2.0 and 1.2

Why didn't you change out the puncture with the spare?

Michelin usually $300-400.. ok mah. Not too far off. Just strange that tyre shop only have stock for this brand and no others.

215/60/17 should not be a rare size, I think.

Wah I drive the 1.2T on a daily basis also forgot whether have spare tyre or not [lipsrsealed]

I use to pay SGD 400++ to change 4 Michellin MX Energy II tires on the Altis at Borneo Motors. Now it will be like, $1,300 for 4 tires on the Qashqai. So, to me, this is a big difference. The savings from the road tax and fuel efficiency cannot make up for the difference.

Michelin product range usually around this price range.. I doubt have any at high $200+. Lowest is $300+.

Anyway, have other brands at lower cost.. like Kumho or Toyo tyres etc. For 17" you can see cheapest $180+ ba.. some people even buy used tires because lagi cheaper.

Tires usually people change at 30,000km mark? Not too sure, that's like 1.5 years of driving for the average road user. Not very often change tyres mah, unless unforeseen circumstances like ApplyNg faced.
