Wenger agrees to new Arsenal contract

Arsene Wenger has agreed on a new three-year contract to stay at Arsenal until 2017

link: http://foxsportsasia.northplains.com/football/premier-league/news/detail/item1033329

\ok, report just in:

The 64-year-old Frenchman, who is the longest serving manager in the Premier League having taken charge in 1996, ended a long wait for a trophy by winning the FA Cup earlier this month.

It was his eighth major trophy with Arsenal, having won the Premier League three times and the FA Cup five times.

A new deal for Wenger had been expected in the wake of the FA Cup success, and the three-year contract was reported by both the BBC and Sky Sports on Friday.

An Arsenal spokesman was unable to confirm the news when contacted by Press Association Sport.

Former Gunners goalkeeper Bob Wilson, who served as goalkeeper's coach in the early years of Wenger's Arsenal reign, told BBC Radio 5 Live: "This is a guy who works 24 hours a day all year around.

"He hates to lose and revolutionised the game in the country. Some say he has too much power but a guy who dedicates himself to it like he does, you cherish.

"Every club who has built a new ground in this country have all been relegated. Why? Because of the stranglehold of the debt of a new ground. Arsene and Arsenal have got through that stage by still qualifying for the Champions League."

One moment hot, one moment cold ....

Fox news: Saints won't sell Spurs, Reds target Lallana

Southampton chairman Ralph Krueger says the club have no need to offload the likes of Luke Shaw and Adam Lallana this summer.

Friday 30th May 2014

It has been speculated that bids have already been tabled for the most highly-prized assets at St Mary's.

Liverpool and Tottenham have both been linked with Lallana, while Chelsea consider his England team-mate Shaw to be an ideal long-term replacement for Ashley Cole at left-back. Manchester United are also said to remain keen.

Krueger, though, says sales will only be sanctioned if the deals on offer are beneficial to all concerned and will help Southampton - who are looking to appoint a managerial successor to Spurs-bound Mauricio Pochettino - to strengthen in the long run.

He told the Daily Echo: "First of all, it's very clear that we are in control. We are in control of all the player transfers. All the top players are under long term contracts.

"Any transfers that take place will be under our terms. We will decide the terms to potential transfers in and out of the club.

"We will involve the manager. That is important for everybody to know. That's why we have been able to not agree to any transfers to date, because we have control of the situation, and anybody who is saying anything else doesn't understand that we are in a strong position with the Saints."

Just putting up a brave front.

Southampton have 3 English players going to WC and could have none returning.

Diego Costa has rejected a new contract offer at Atletico Madrid which would have seen his wage doubled.

So Chelsea going to triple or quadruple his wage?

Heard Pool hv now offered 25mil for Lallana. If true, I take back my words that they hv been penny pinching over 1-2mil. I thought 22-23mil would hv done the trick but goes to show how easy for us fans to criticise the slowness/inaction of the board. Saints quite stubborn in this but surprisingly easier on Lambert!

Guardian reporting that Pool has tabled a take it or leave it final bid for Lallana - whooping £25m

http://www.theguardian.com/football/2014/may/30/liverpool-adam-lallana-southampton-25m-new-bid

Looks like the value cap for player can be raised if BR demands it, or, his value is never cap at £20m

Yes bro, you beat me to this lol.

Lambert wasn't easy, just that we played hard ball. Told them we want Lambert signed before England team depart for Miami or else the deal is off.

Now it think is the same for Lallana. Finial bid, accept or we walk.

25m for lallana?...overpriced to me. Unless he is 21 or 22yrs old. Now hes left with mayb 3yrs of top form. After that cant sell him for much.

I remember I share a source info that a deal at £25m already been agreed and I suspect was Shaw or Lallana?

If we end up signing him at this price, it would just mean that all these to and fro of bids are just part of the PR show.

Most fans think likewise but for me, as long as the extra £5m doesn't mean we sacrifice on other signing, I am ok with it. Don't think we are looking at selling him off for profit. More of making full use of his years in prime.

Woy apparently approved to have Liverpool medical team flying over to Miami. Question now is whether they are conducting one or two medical while they are there.

Correction: if there is a medical, it will be for Lallana. Lambert is undergoing medical now at Spire Liverpool Hospital.

I am touched, very touched after reading Lambert's life story.

He come from rejects, worked his way up thru all the ranks to the EPL, and now playing for his beloved team who has asked him to go elsewhere when he was 15yo.

What a turn around ! What a Lambert :))

Not so good news from Ben Smith: Stalemate in Lallana's proposed move to LFC. Player wants future sorted before WC. SaintsFC want to wait.
