Hi, I am newbie here.Β Just bought my Mazda 5 2010 model. Head lamp is not so bright and am thinking about options to change to LED or brighter white lights. any recommendation?

Β Bro ...Welcome to join Mazda 5 Group.

Β It is wonderful car ....hope u enjoy it so far.

Β Regarding light bulk ...if u wan go for LTA approval light bulk, we can go highest to 4300K ....Phillips White Vision or Osram Cool Blue Intense Β 4200K ....both of these still have a bit of yellowish color....around 50 dollarsΒ

Β

If LTA is not a concern ...then can go for 6000 K or LED conversion headlight around 100 plus ...

Have been checking on the Philips White Vision, I heard it only lasts 1-2 years. Is it true?

I always start and immediately off the i-stop. Many people I know with other brands also do the same. This is an 'useless feature' here. It is a reasonable MPV except the model did not change much.

Β

Able to share your fuel efficiency by doing this?

Β

Personally i leave this feature on unless there is frequent startstop traffic.

mine ride is less than 2 weeks old, so FC is around 8.8/100 km. I dont think you can base on this to compare as there are many factors affecting FC, including how you drive.Β

Β

if leaving it on can satisfy your driving style and you are happy with it, no harm. just be resdy to change battery more often. of course, even with the istop off, your driving pattern also can shorten battery life. that is my experiences.Β

sorry, the 8.8/100Km is M3. For M5 which is about 2 months, it is around 10

My fuel consumption is 7.4avg right now but u r right, driving pattern affects this, though its useful to have a rough gauge.

Β

Battery change is almost naturally expected by 2yrs, so im not too concerned on that aspect. The cost impact should be immaterial considering a change only costs a few hundred for the lifespan.

Β

Personally, i enjoy the silenced engine at traffic junctns and it being environmentally friendly by reducing emissions. Hence, do not feel it is a "useless feature", but rather how a person uses it. If it is never used, yes it WILL become a useless feature, which i doubt Mazda will spend so much RnD on.

Β

Per Mazda,

i-stop

Β

Mazda's i-stop substantially improves fuel economy while maintaining a natural driving feel. The latest control technologies achieve a rapid engine restart and an operational feel that is barely noticeable. The system improves fuel economy by approximately eight percent (under Japan's JC08 mode test cycle.).

Β

i-stop and Gasoline Engines

Β

While conventional idling stop systems rely on a starter motor to restart the engine, Mazda's i-stop restarts the engine through combustion; fuel is directly injected into a cylinder while the engine is stopped and ignited to generate downward piston force. The result is a quick and quiet engine re-start compared to other systems and a significant saving in fuel.

Ani1 did auto-lock 4 mazda 5?

Β

I did the foot brake auto-lock module. Think the cost was about $80. Not very sure as I did together with my ICE installation.
