Thats good. The govt should discourage gambling. If want to gamble then at least contribute more to the govt.

SINGAPORE: The TOTO jackpot just got bigger. But it will cost you more and it will be more difficult to win the jackpot.

In changes that will take effect from Oct 7, An ordinary bet of six numbers will now cost S$1 as opposed to 50 cents previously, while System 7 will now cost S$7, as compared to S$3.50 previously.

Punters will, however, get a higher chance of recouping their bets with the introduction of a new winning tier of S$10 by matching 3 numbers. The number pool will also be increased from 45 to 49.

The minimum guaranteed amount for the jackpot will be increased from S$500,000 to S$1 million. And with the new Group 7 prize category, customers need only match three numbers to win a $10 payoff. Singapore Pools said the change is in response to customers’ requests for a larger jackpot prize, and well as prizes for successfully matching three numbers.

With the addition of Group 7 prizes, the odds of winning any prize will improve from 1 in 321 to 1 in 54. The chance of winning the jackpot, however, falls from 1 in 8.14 million to 1 in 13.98 million.

Other changes include increased pay-outs for groups. Group 5, which requires four matched numbers, will be increased from S$30 to S$50, and Group 6 – three matched numbers, plus the additional number – will now pay S$25, up from S$20 currently.

siao liao.

Min bet for all levels x2 current prices.

max numbers increased to 49.

match 3 numbers win $10

from the above article, i conclude some pointers.

- tote board think they are earning too little too slow. Time to up the game! Maybe to match LTA!

- Not sure which group of punters they polled? Probably a skewed one if there is even a poll to begin with...probably asking....who want to win more? Then 100% said yes and they come out with this.

- chances of winning higher? Duh...every week buy 14 dollars win 10dollars...i think article meant tote board has higher chances of winning?

Ya....Spools very smelly.

Obviously they have done their calculations on the odds.

Everything increase but die die wont increase System 12 to System 13 or even 14 ?

I would rather they maintain 45 numbers and add in System 13.

I think the only thing we don't know is "who are the winners every draw?"

They should publish their name, at least we know there is someone or real person who win every draw....

Like that, can? :D

Take this as typical of the SG toto scene before latest change, quoted

A prize pool is established at 55% of sales for a draw. Typically, $2.8 million dollars is "invested" in each game - and games are offered twice per week. This is quite a lot for a country of 4.5 million people...

The new system for Toto starts tomorrow...

http://www.wanbao.com.sg/local/story20141006-38748#local

Play with care, and play with spare money.

what is the aim of SP in introducing this?

we have 2 Toto draws a week.

The bet cost have doubled in price,

an ordinary line cost $1.00 and a System 7 cost $7.00.

I am disappointed, a few hundred thousand people will pay more so that a few will strike bigger payouts.

The aim is to decrease the probability of a strike even more than ever while increasing the probability of winning a smaller bet i.e. with 3 nos and at the same time increase their coffers at the expense of someone's coffin [thumbsdown]
