Little_prince Supersonic December 29, 2014 Share December 29, 2014 The thing is that the gap betw the rich and the poor is just growing day after day... the really rich is probably only 5-10%. the remaining 85% is middle income. about 5% is really low income group. i think the issue is how the govt define low income. per household? or per capita? even a guy earning 6k a mth but supporting him, his wife, 2 kids and parents, may be low income. 1k per pax. in this type of situation, how much savings can he have? in order to prepare for his retirement? and that is not taking into account sg sky high cost of living. ↡ Advertisement
Super366 2nd Gear December 29, 2014 Share December 29, 2014 (edited) Hey guys. Gday to y'all. There are reasons why some people underachieve and why some ...especially here pay full cash, yeah, the cigar dude and others. You know it. Be just in your observations please. dad job is to setup the system. Can try to teach to use it, but can some people comprehend. I am pretty sure the gentlemen who seek to use this thread to hammer dad are either blinding themselves or do not understand social assistance. The simple act of helping or being nice. We are human creatures, we like being praised, so we can feel good. How about those doing the praising. They feel good too yes? Brothers and sisters if you do volunteer at willing hearts, St Stephen at Sallim road is it? You will gain your happiness and get detoxified. There are many avenues to help those that cannot use the system. Those of us can improve our knowledge and skillsets because we gain when we give. I think you know that i do not mean in a business profit and gain, but of the spirit. The material benefits are a by product. Of course, not that most of us are lucky to be born a princeling. They still have to work hard to be a king. Willing hearts deal with the most pressing issue of hunger. Many of us deal with it everyday too. When we sit down at Raffles brunch, do we remember? Do send help. Come come thailand again... Edited December 29, 2014 by Super366

TameDriver Twincharged December 29, 2014 Share December 29, 2014 A friend who's a regular volunteer collects unsold bread from bakery every Saturday night & sometimes weekday night as well (cover those who're unable to make it), for WillingHearts. I help him out occasionally when he's unable to do it. Drivers needed too, either to drive the vans or own vehicle to deliver cooked food to the various distribution centres.

Qpik Supercharged December 29, 2014 Share December 29, 2014 ...just like yellow ribbon...talk only Yellow Ribbon, I tot those business owners can help by giving reformed a chance thru employment. For layman like me, I buy from The Helping Hands n recommend frens looking for furniture. They also provide house removal service. Reading all these comments here made me realised that the policies on so call helping the low income earners are not working at all. All the talk but actual help are from kind hearted individuals. SIgh. Angry and sad at the same time. Bro, I understand what you meant. May I suggest you channel your emotions to worthy causes. It is tiring but worthwhile. If you can't commit regularly, Willing Hearts is a good option. GUI gd for those who want to do farming, carpentry work etc.

Is there a place/website we could go to find out how I could lend a hand in collect and send food for needy? One evening/night per week is probably do-able for me.

Hope everyone can pass it on and contribute to it's success so that it will continue on for our future generation. http://www.groundupinitiative.org/ You might want to inform them of the mismatch of their "Socienty's Place of Business" and "Registration Date". To help old folks home, you'll have to liase with the home and the bakery. Some food businesses rather discard unsold food than donate away; for fear that it might affect their image or avoid other complications (eg, food poisoning?). Good luck! Super7 Turbocharged December 30, 2014 Share December 30, 2014 Is there a place/website we could go to find out how I could lend a hand in collect and send food for needy? One evening/night per week is probably do-able for me. There are many (shops, individuals etc) who are willing to donate food etc. But the donated food needs to be collected, and distributed, this requires manpower/vehicles which seem to be in short supply. If more bros here can chip in (with their time) and help in the collection and distribution, the persons who really need the food will be able to have their regular meals.

Bro, what if real / alleged food poisoning occurs? Blame who? You or me who transported the food?Food safety / security is top priority. These people can not be placed in harms way. The volunteers can not be placed in harm's way. Thank goodness there are smart people at willing hearts. I cannot resist this, but after the poking by youknowwho....Yes Father.
