Super7 Turbocharged February 11, 2015 Share February 11, 2015 I do yield and change lane as soon as practicable if a car can make progress and wants to go faster than me. Usually in that situation there's nobody right behind him and so there will be space to return to lane 1 when you need to. I rarely speed, I found it makes no difference to my journey time. The ones who make me laugh are those who think they can progress faster than you in lane 1 and so do an ostentatious undertake manouevre in lane 2 but find the gap they thought was there has disappeared by the time they are alongside, even though I haven't changed speed, or closed the safe gap to the car in front. Sometimes they make the gap and squueze ahead, and they remain one whole car ahead of me for the remainder of the stretch... 2 seconds ahead at most! Funny. LOL, I guess such a driver finds the 2 sec very important to make his day :D but i find even 2 mins gained wont improve my day, not even enough to sit down for a nice cup of kopi-0 , so might as well dont stress myself to gain the 2 sec or 2 mins. ↡ Advertisement

Sam7770 4th Gear February 11, 2015 Share February 11, 2015 whatever.....just keep away from R lane if not overtaking. The End. Define overtaking. Is moving at or just above the speed of the traffic in lane 2 overtaking? Are you saying drivers should then change to lane 2 if lane 1 is moving at the same speed or more slowly than lane 1, irrespective if it is safe or makes any sense to do so? There's actually a bit more to this than you appear to realise and depends crucially on the context.

Frankly my england very poor and cant comprehend your very theory based statement. i over take slower car on the R, but if they hog the lane i would take L. If all that fail, i stay put. Simple? efssc 5th Gear February 12, 2015 Share February 12, 2015 (edited) There is an idio... I mean, a guy, in the building who's on the same floor as my office. As the building only has centralized shared toilets, saw him a few times; 1) Always uses a cubicle, even when all urinals are empty, 2) Never closes the door, as long as he's not taking a poop, 3) Urinates all over the toilet seat, never even bothered to lift it up once (luckily we have 3 cubicles in total, otherwise we can only go up or downstairs). Anyone tries talking sense into him, he yells back and gets pushy, claiming it's none of anyone else's business, and he is free to do whatever he wants as long as he pays rent. Does this make him a criminal? No, there are no laws about not using urinals when peeing, or even peeing all over the toilet seats (at least I don't think there are). Does this make him an axxhole? Abso-freaking-lutely!!! Somewhat similar to road hogging, you may or may not be liable in the eyes of the law, but if you're doing something that causes inconvenience, problem or worse, danger for someone else, and you're doing it deliberately or you can choose not but you still do it nonetheless simply "BECAUSE" (the "I'm the MASTER OF THE UNIVERSE" mentality), then simply put, you're an axxhole. And as for the toilet-seat-wetting idio.. guy, heard from the cleaners someone finally got to him. He was halfway taking a poop and someone threw a water bomb and hit him right on his head. Too bad I wasn't there to witness it (or to be the one to have thought of and did it). Edited February 12, 2015 by efssc

Super7 Turbocharged February 12, 2015 Share February 12, 2015 It's a waste to use water bomb (need some efforts to prepare one) on this idiot, lucky for him no one just stood behind him (when he's peeing all over the place) and peed right into his back!!! ---- least efforts, max result There is an idio... Vhtfhwlego Supercharged February 12, 2015 Share February 12, 2015 Road hoggers will always cause unwanted congestion. Some say 2 secs/2mins delay etc. They never see the overall bigger picture behind holding back traffic. Just stand on a bridge over a busy highway. 1 road hogger infront will hold back the traffic up to 2km or even more. Just imagine the scenario where there are few ambulance way back.

TP / LTA officers never stand on the bridge to see, that's why the problem persists. What's the point of spending money to build expressways when they let such an "abuse" (hogging) of road space continue to slow down traffic, causing congestion? Another related bad behavior:- wherever there's a climb (going up bridges, or the road sloping up), some drivers will drop their speed to even 60kmh on a 90kmh expressway, resulting in forming a long line of cars behind going slow. The effect is multiplied during peak hours. Sometimes the last car in the line ends up crawling at just 5 kmh, or even stopping!! Once the traffic reaches the peak, it's back to normal. . It doesn't take a very steep slow to see such drivers causing the congestion behind.

The point of creating & letting congestion take place in a conspiracy theory, collecting more revenue. Revenue comes in ERP, GST & duty for petrol. We are paying for GST & duty while at a traffic stand still and why the gov wants to improve traffic congestion where it is having revenue generated in such situation? And there traffic always at standstill, they can double up the revenue by ERP. If everyone can be more efficent in travelling by 5%, how much % of reveune lost? The bad behavior stands from day 1 at the training schools. Get rid of this mindset of driving slow = safe = better roads for everyone. And, a lot of Singaporean tend to suffer from this mindset.

Exactly!! Poor road designs, slack enforcements of rules, etc create congestions; congestions are good excuses for more revenues through ERP/COE etc. If the roads are designated for 90kmh, regardless of slopes or bends, it's 90kmh, no need to slow down. ↡ Advertisement
