Just saw on sgcarmart that the Mz2 is now priced at $116,800-00. Don't know why the sudden decrease from the price at Motorshow which was $122,800-00.

Anyway, this is more comparable as the Jazz 1.5 at $114k+

Haha, meet you again!!

Yes between the 2, I would also choose the Jazz.

I like to compare like for like cars and these 2 are definitely head to head competitors. Think first time a Mazda is priced more than a Honda so I was surprised but Mz AD must be really confident cos the Jazz is the benchmark for BNB hatchbacks as can be seen by the fact that it is the sgcarmart car of the year!! No mean feat [thumbsup]

The amount of ID n media system probably contributes to higher cost.

I was at Maz showroom. Small inside. Similar to my Getz.

Price $116800? No further discount? It's actually just $3k less than the base Mz3.

Think the interior is smaller than the Jazz. But the overall design esp the face looks nice!

Saw the inside, didnt bother asking bout price liao. Since these new Gen Mz are supposedly contish in feel, probably a budget lifestyle car like mini......both under Eurokars right?

Ya bro, u r right they both under Eurokars I just checked. That may explain the pricing n they may want to make it a niche lifestyle car like what u mentioned. Personally I don't think it will work for the Mz2 although it seems to work for the Mini. Let's see how it pans out n if it's sustainable coz the Jazz is selling well from what I understand so they'll face immense competition. May the better car win!!

Wah bro, nothing escapes your eyes, good observation [thumbsup] on the red-line!!

Yes it really looks like this will be a more responsive car, sort of a Mini Cooper!

Getting interesting and next I guess would be a comparison with the Jazz, so bring on the Mz2 for a full fledge fight with the Jazz I say :D

If you're comparing the Mz2 vs Jazz, shouldn't you also include the Fiesta? I remember the previous generation of Mz2 is based on the same platform as the previous Fiesta.

Btw, i just saw from FB that they're offering the Fiesta at $99,999... not sure if any catch.

Thks bro for the reminder! You are right, Fiesta should be a fair comparison.

Didn't know it was selling at this price now! Saw it at the Motorshow and it looks [thumbsup] although everyone at the Ford stand was admiring the Mustang. I'm not sure of the power and specs of the Fiesta so must read up more, cheers and have a good weekend!!

You're welcome bro [:)]

No surprise that the Mustang is the star of the Ford's lineup... small car usually don't attract too much attention.

I'm also surprise at this price as i understand it was more than $110k when it was first launch a few months back... so that's why i'm not sure what catch they've with this attractive pricing.

I'm pretty sure this new Fiesta with the 1.0 EcoBoost engine should give a good fight with the Mz2 & Jazz unlike the previous gen Fiesta (the 1.4 version) which I'm driving where i feel it lack the oomph during pickup. I've not test drive this new Fiesta but my SIL who did find the new Fiesta power to be more than adequate. Not to mention the 1.0 engine will cost less in term of yearly road tax too [thumbsup]

Have a good weekend too!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_PowerShift_transmission

ALAMAK !!!!

The PowerShift gearbox is a joint development between Ford, Getrag and Luk and was first introduced in Europe. Both Volvo and Ford use wet clutches and hydraulic actuation.[3][4] However, the new PowerShift gearbox used in the Ford Fiesta and Ford Focususes dry clutches and electric motor/solenoid actuation.[2] Some have criticized the PowerShift's rough starts and lack of smooth shifting, but Ford has continually released (but not publicized) upgrades to transmission software and firmware designed to address these concerns.[5]

PS : This is what happens when I just quick quick browse through the previous time.......but car jin complicated....

Just saw in Mazda website that they now have a Mz2 standard version going for $108,800- whilst the deluxe version is now going for $113,800-

Think this price is more platable and if I'm not wrong Honda Jazz has not cut their price so it's back to the usual Honda more ex than Mazda situation :D
