  1. Hi all! Seeing as it has been a few months since the brand new Mazda 2 has been launched in Singapore and many have been collecting their new cars recently, those who have been driving for awhile or brand new owners can check in here! Feel free to share experiences driving or any upgrades you might be interested in doing or have already done, i'm pretty sure we'll see many new Mazda 2s zoom-zooming around Singapore soon!
  2. Wheelies seem like a pretty cool trick or stunt to look at. Motorcyclists are not the only ones that can perform such stunts, but drivers can also perform wheelies. Don't believe me? Watch it here: What Happened? A Mazda 2 hatchback that performed a last-minute lane change near a red light ended up rear-ending a Nissan Qashqai instead. However, the Nissan SUV easily absorbed the blunt impact from the collision. The rock-hard sturdiness of the Nissan SUV resulted in the Mazda 2 mounting it and doing a "wheelie" on its right wheels. For a moment, it seemed as though the Mazda 2 was about to turn turtle. Luckily, the Mazda 2 regained its stability and safely landed on all four wheels. It then travelled quite a distance before stopping in the middle of the junction. Netizens' Comments I can imagine it LOL. Part and parcel of driving in Singapore😪 Cannot handle a Mazda 2, but might be able to handle a F1 car🤔 ========= Receive a $10 PayNow for every submission we publish on Facebook! 3. http://www.sgcarmart.com/news/review.php?AID=795&PN=3 Key Points : - Compared to the 3 hatchback, there's less space in the cabin and a 250-litre boot (including underfloor storage) of the 2. But it's adequate for four Asian adults of average height, with decent legroom made possible by the significant 80mm increase in the 2's wheelbase to 2,570mm. - It's not fast, of course, with only 115bhp to play with from its 1.5-litre engine. But the kerb weight is just over a tonne, and the SkyActiv four-cylinder is hooked up to a responsive six-speed automatic gearbox (the old model uses a mere four-speeder), complete with little paddle-shifters and a well-placed Sport switch. - Hitting 100km/h from a standstill takes 10 seconds flat, which is less impressive than how the car behaves in corners. The steering, which is light on initial turn-in, becomes firm and positive as it negotiates the bend at speed, with the vehicle steadily following through. - The positivity of the steering, along with the stability of the chassis, the 'continental' confidence of the suspension, the bite of the brakes and the predictable grip from the 185/60 R16 tyres, makes the 2 a cooperative companion on the circuit. Not bad at all for a city car destined to live its life in the city, far away from any racetrack. - The engine is energetic and willing, all the way to 6,000rpm. It's clearly heard when hard at work, but it operates smoothly and there's no untoward vibration through the bulkhead. When the 2 is just cruising along, it is as calm, controlled and well-insulated as the 3 hatchback. - Mazda's latest fun-to-drive 2 will be introduced to Singapore in the first quarter of next year.
  4. Auto shows or exhibitions are usually the place where auto manufacturers showcase their cars and technologies. In Japan, if you want to see new car models, you will have to visit the Tokyo Motor Show. But the Tokyo Auto Salon is where designers and engineers unleash their talents in customisation. At the upcoming 2012 Tokyo Auto Salon (13-15 January), Mazda Motor Corporation will showcase several of their customised vehicles. On top of this, Mazda will also display its SKYACTIV engines and transmissions. First of all is the new and recently released CX-5. This special edition CX-5 is based on a standard CX-5 model grade. It combines a red exterior body paint work with matte black alloy wheels and a slightly lowered body height. Next is the Mazda Demio (also known as the Mazda 2) SKYACTIV Smart Stylish. This model's low centre of gravity is expressed through M'z Custom aero parts including front under spoiler, side skirts, and rear underskirt. Next is the Mazda Axela (Mazda 3) SKYACTIV Sport. The Axela comes with a range of aero parts including front air dam skirt, rear bumper, and rear roof spoiler for the exterior. The interior gets black leather upholstery for the seats, centre console and door trims. The centre console, meter hood and door switch panel surfaces are finished in piano black. The Mazda Roadster (MX-5) Black Tuned integrates black-based features onto both the interior and exterior of the car. This tuned model offers a full range of exclusive aftermarket items which includes BBS lightweight alloy wheels, Bilstein height adjustable dampers, Brembo brake system (painted in gold for the front callipers) and RECARO seats. Next up is the Mazda RX-8 Spirit R 2012. Mazda states that this model is an expression of the further pursuit of superlative driving performance, a further evolution of the limited edition Mazda RX-8 Spirit R with 6-speed manual transmission. In addition to the base model's unique sporty design and dynamic performance, the model features BBS 20-inch alloy wheels, Brembo brakes and rotors, and vehicle height lowered by 20mm. And lastly the Mazda Roadster (MX-5) NR-A
  5. Mazda has announced that the refreshed Mazda2 will be given its European premiere at next month's Paris motor show. The Japanese firm also plans to introduce a new 1.6-liter turbo diesel for the Mazda5 MPV, Mazda3 sedan and hatchback models at the show. The updated European specced Mazda2 benefits from a nose job with reprofiled bumper and face grille along with some minor interior upgrades. Other improvements include a tweaked chassis for better ride comfort and the introduction of a new automatic transmission variant with all engines in the Mazda2 lineup complying with the Euro 5 emissions standard. Mazda will also premiere a new 1.6-liter turbo diesel engine for the Mazda5 MPV and Mazda3 models. The new diesel produces 115HP and is matched to a six-speed manual transmission, returning a combined fuel economy of 5.2lt/100km on the Mazda5 and 4.4lt/100km on the Mazda3.
  6. I read about the Mazda 2 sedan about 2 years ago. The sexy coupe-like 4-door sedan was unveiled at the 2007 Guangzhou Motor Show, and was built and sold in China by Changan Ford Mazda Automobile Co Ltd. At that time, there was no news on whether the car would be sold outside China. However, I was pleasantly surprised to find out from The Straits Times that this compact sedan will be making its debut in Singapore some time in March 2010. This will be the first Mazda in Singapore that is sourced from the land of thousand smiles. From an aesthetic point of view, the Mazda 2 sedan certainly has one up against its closest rival, the Toyota Vios. The 2's body contour is smooth and athletic whereas the Toyota gives the impression of a teen who swallowed too much candies. Mazda's designers managed to perfect the art of adding a boot to a hatchback and my view is that it is better looking than its cousin, the Ford Fiesta sedan. At 4,270(L) x 1,695(W) x 1,480(H), the Mazda sedan is slightly shorter but much wider than the Vios. This should translate to better handling characteristics in Mazda. Expect the Mazda 2 sedan to be powered by the 1.5L VVT unit that is currently serving the hatchback version. Gearbox is a conventional 4 speed automatic. Nothing fancy about the drivetrain but the Vios none better. My only wish is that the hatch's rear drum brake gets replaced with disc brake in the sedan form.
