What strikes me is 王重阳 lived to really old age, which is quite rare in the olden days. And 张三丰 died at 212 yo… his power must be more than sweeping monk then. Then i no need query the age of the monkey in whose stomach 九阳真经 was hidden…

If 张三丰 diesd at 212yrs old. That means he is just middle age man when he was in Heaven sword and Dragon Sabre.

It is quite inconsistent lor.

 

Xiao Feng, Xu Zhu and Duan Yu showed that they could charge an army and capture the leader and come out alive.*

 

Xiao Feng also mentioned when accused of burgling Ma's house that if he wanted to, he could sneak in the imperial palace undetected and steal what he wanted.*

 

Hong Qigong proved that he could access the imperial kitchen at will (so he could poison emperor if he wanted).*

 

Tonglao, with an amputated leg and incomplete inner power recovery, can still kidnap imperial princess from within the imperial palace.*

 

This makes them rather superhuman and with assassins like that, it would seem that if they worked as agents of the Song court, they could cause chaos with the enemy leadership. Don't see how any enemy state can defeat Song like that.

 

However, in the same damn novel (Tian Long Ba Bu), Jin Yong as the narrator stated that no matter how good a kung-fu practitioner you are, if faced with 8!( yes just 8) co-ordinated enemy soldiers, you would have a difficult time.*

 

The problem is JY needed to keep the kung-fu interesting while keeping historical consistency with general dynastic changes in China. So sure inconsistent one.

 

*above examples all from the novels. Not TV adaptations where Xiao Feng shoot dragon palm and enemy army formation explodes. Worse than Dynasty Warriors game.

But murong Bo didn't consider that duan Yu only learn that skill for like 2 days?? And he is better then murong fu liao. So given the time for fu to learn, duan Yu will had surpass him.

How could I miss this thread in MCF. I am fan of JY.

 

I remember someone used to ask JY amongst all his character who has the highest level of Kung Fu. His replied was Xu Zhu in Tian Long Ba Bu.

 

Thought she learnt the 'Jiu Yang Pai Ku Chow' and fight with the 3 monks guarding 'Xie Shun' & Zhang Wu Ji .....

 

She also teached Jing Shu the 'Jiu Yang Pai Ku Chow' ...

 

Almost ending part. Yang Kuo daughter came and destroy her 'Jiu Yang Pai Ku Chow' plus some other kung fu she had...

 

The Jiu Ying bai Gu zhua"" was only part of the Jiu Ying Zhen Jing. Zhou Zhi Rou need to have short cut so learn the quick way.

What you guys ever wonder how does sect get their funding? Shoalin and Wudang probably thru donation from devotees. Beggar sect is quite obvious. But how about Hua Shan, Kun Lun sect? They are not 保镖?

The leader whole day practice martial art, think and plot on being 武林盟主. They leader also seems to be well to do. I'm guessing they are part time bandit, collecting 买路钱 from those who needs to pass thru their territory.

 

I think the other sects will get donation from the rich else really hard to maintain the expenses. haha

I remember the 辟邪剑谱, the Fu Wei ancestor was a monk so he dun allow his son and grandson to learn this skill.

Before you watch the shows, go national library to borrow the novels first.

 

Last last time during army days, these novels accompanied me for about 2 years. Read all novels of JY then start reading all over again. Every times I read again will have better understanding.
