RS Chip Tuning

This Chip tuning stuff is a automotive marketing gimmick. even the product reviews/feedback are from the same group of people (Paid or Unpaid review).

1) some wiring connection pinout to 'Vendor option' on OBDII connecter.

2) The wire is physically connected but no signal output from the scopes meaning no data been written to the internal 'Eeprom'.

3) this device basically alter the signal either from your Lambda, MAP... which mostly a 0-5V or 4-20mA output sensor.

4) Don't be fooled by the Complicated Circuit Board layout, which is not connected or terminated at some point.

5) This Device is originally from Russia.

If you are interested in real Fuel / engine management controller , look into something like this ecmtuning.com or many others. Replace The ECU controller Fully programmable type, NOT device that claim could be mounted to 100 brand of vehicle which most major car manufacturer wouldn't allow anyone to alter their controller, only allow to READ/Reset from the OBDII connector but not 'WRITE' permission to their controller.

THERE IS NO 'WRITE' PERMISSION ON THE CONTROLLER FOOL!!!

What is the benefit of installing a throttle controller?

After fitting, let's say last time you step 10% now become 20%,so you got a 'feeling' the car is faster. :D [petrol also use faster :a-confused: ]

In conclusion, RS Chip is snake oil. Stop buying shit that doesn't work. It's amazing how many popular car workshops actually sell this kinda crap. Even those that won awards from sgcarmart.

Does it not work on NA cars or for all even TC SC cars?

OMG. Why you want to tell people to get better versions? These boxes are crap la. Shouldn't encourage people to buy shit that won't work.

Agreed...but some people wanted their B&B cars feels like sports car...that is the cheapest mod. :a-panic:

Like some B&B car owners, they thought putting Shell V-Power can make their cars "FLY" :a-dothewave:

Installed RSChip on my A5 recently. Here's the dyno (before and after) chart:

Was very satisfied with the results, despite me knowing NUTS about tuning. Car feels fine, power is good and FC did improve tad slightly, I could be wrong. I know some people are saying this is snake oil.. but sorry to dissapoint! [thumbsup]

Well I was from a Unichip convert. Before tat I was running very lean. Power comes in very aggressively but lose out on the top range of the rpm. After installing the rschip, powerband goes all e way to the red line. Car can accelerate out of corners much more smoothly and faster exit speed.

I don't think tat it makes my car fly, but for the price I am paying it's definitely value for money.

Besides I'm getting thropies from track days CCT and other grassroots time attack after switching to RS chip.

Cheers.

The tuner explained to me that they do not recommend running aftermarket spark plugs or ignition coils on cars like Chevrolet cruze 1.6 NA.

Quote from WiKi

Security issues[edit]

Researchers at the University of Washington and University of California examined the security around OBD, and found that they were able to gain control over many vehicle components via the interface. Furthermore, they were able to upload new firmware into the engine control units. Their conclusion is that vehicle embedded systems are not designed with security in mind.[26][27][28]

There have been reports of thieves using specialist OBD reprogramming devices to enable them to steal cars without the use of a key.[29] The primary causes of this vulnerability lie in the tendency for vehicle manufacturers to extend the bus for purposes other than those for which it was designed, and the lack of authentication and authorization in the OBD specifications, which instead rely largely on security through obscurity.[30] The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has demonstrated the ability to take over certain functions through wires to the car's control center.[31]

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Let me check what the device have change/modified in the HEX files before I made further conclusions.
