I'm very keen about getting the 2.0 FNA but worried about the resale value and petrol consumption.  Wife was considering HRV or QQ but given this price range Forester might be more worthwhile.  Anyone consider HRV or QQ before committing to Forester?

Follow wife preference better.

Happy wife, happy life!

Among fna, hrv, vezel and qq very tough to choose. The solution is very simple actually. Just wack fxt. Problem solved...

HRV - overpriced. Every 10 car got 7.

QQ - 1.2, chances of losing horse power

FNA - Bigger than the 2, more reliable than QQ, NCAP 4 star rating. Price more competitive.

FNA is in the category of mid size SUV. Such as cx5, harrier. But FNA is more ruggard than the 2.

If money not a problem, FNA or even FXT should be a clear-cut choice. Ranging from spec., size, power, safety, class and/or even look(subjective though) are a notch or two better than those you listed.

Believed FNA a couple or a few thousands more on the selling price now. Road Tax half a thousand more a year. Servicing a bit more every time. Petrol a bit more every time. add up should be $1K more a month or $10K for 10years.

But hor, make your wife happier better cos happy wife = happy life;;;;unquote

Consider the facts bro:

Your wife likes the HRV - happy wife, happy life  [:p]

The HRV may be common, but then that means it's easy to repair, and the HRV isn't as common as the Vezel.

If you drive a lot, you will save a few thousand in petrol costs. The HRV is actually as fast if not faster than the heavier FNA.

As for resale, you pay more for the HRV, so I don't think the resale of all three cars is that bad. The upfront costs of the FNA is lower, so it's expected that it won't fetch as much. At the end of the day, it will retain more, since there's no CEVS. And as a Jap car, it's resale is still better than a conti car that isn't an Audi/BMW/Merc I think.

If you need the space and 4WD of the FNA, go for it!

On the hand, if you want a compact car suitable for city driving, easy to turn, park and squeeze into tight spots, then the HRV is it.

The QQ is not as nice as the FNA / HRV IMO, the main thing going for it is lower road tax and FC.

Hmmm. I thought whole car is 5 years??

I hope the cvt gearbox is lasting as i clock quite a lot of km yearly on my fxt... now at 7 months old already almost 20k km... im expecting the car to last till 250-300 k km over 10 years with proper maintenance.

I think i roughly hear this when sign.. need to verify.

All japanese car made are on CVT, there is no running away. Except for mazda is using the traditional AT and suzuki.

These days the gps module is not part of the package but optional.

Uh... the HU GPS not much use... it's slower to detect the satellites, takes longer to re-calculate, needs payment to upgrade maps, and gets outdated within the 10 year lifetime of the car... Google maps much better...

Not really same. FNA space is much bigger than the rest.

I am driving QQ now, at the time I brought the QQ, FNA was costed more than 10K.
FNA is a much bigger and more features than my QQ.++
Now for a few thousand more, FNA is better choice.

I agree with all the above. However, the Garmin has some nice feature. I especially like the junction view. It shows on the split screen the lane one must follow when coming to a junction. Not much of a use in Singapore but helped me quite a lot when I was in Malaysia when exiting the highways with multiple exits.

For maps and traffic information, I will rely on waze.
