And how are you liking it? How much did you pay, please? MI quoted me $1,150 got 4 doors plus roof.

Enjoying it! 4 doors, 2 layers. Front arch, rear boot area, whole floor - 1 layer. Total need about 22-24 pieces of Sp materials (Stp brand). Each piece (depending on the thickness) cost 50-70 each. You do the math. :)

MI doing how many layers? Using what materials?

May I know where you did it?  Looking for a reliable shop who can do a proper job.  Thanks.

To all, just curious when you all sign on the dot. Is insurance premium inclusive in the grand total?

Insurance usually is excluded from the cost available for financing coz differs for each buyer. But will form part of the total amount you need to pay before they pass you the car. Edited by BenTong

My math fail leh. Okay, so about $1.4k based on median cost, excluding labour, but covering more total area than what MI was proposing to me. Dunno how many layers or what specific material cuz I got sticker shock and stopped inquiring. But when I brought up my concerns about weight, my SA said the material wasn't oil-based and hence wouldn't be that heavy. Sounds like it could involve some sort of applied coating in addition to layers of material. I'll ask for more details at my 5k servicing so that I'll be able to compare it more usefully to your package.

I don't think I'd do the floor because the Clasani coats are quite effective, but I can see why the front arches could be worthwhile. Why is the boot area worth doing?

You'll be interested in proper sound proofing too I guess. 4doors and wheel arches at least? I did. :)

Can advise where you did it?  How much is the damage?  Keen to do the same.

Any ways to tune the reverse sensors? They are like my wife, always overly sensitive and overacting

And now within 2 weeks of marriage they refuse to beep

Sigh. Got my car and first day scratched like badly at turning in MCSP.

Anyway indeed the car studio cannot show double byte characters from my iPhone via the charging cable. Both Songs in Apple and Spotify.

Sad.

Hmm, I'm also can't quite decide on doing soundproofing for my fxt. The car itself is actually very quiet already. The engine is pretty silent except when u rev hard and need the sudden urge to overtake. Even then the engine sounds pretty refine. Wind noise is noticeable at > legal hw speeds of 100,110 and beyond. Even the doors are pretty well insulated as I find the HK system to work well even when listening to sounds with heavier bass. The doors may not feel as solid as a bmw x3, but they certainly don't vibrate or sound hollow. The biggest culprit i find is the road noise, especially driving over very rough patches of road. To be honest, even a bmw 3 series with 18 inch wheels suffer from pretty bad road noises despite its excellent sound insulation. Doing a complete enhance floor and wheel arches sound proofing is the only way to reduce road noise. But i find this to be a bit too extensive as it requires the removal of all seats (our electric chairs!) and floor carpet, which i feel very uncomfortable about it.

BTW, the clasani undercoat does help a bit on the road noise. On well-paved roads, the car appear to be more silent. On rougher patches, road noise also sounded more muffled. $290 is quite well spent, especially its done by our agent MI.

Hmm... But SP for boot is kinda questionable leh. I used to layer my boot floor with 2 layers of mat and that will reduce some noise from the undercarriage. I know of some who also SP the boot cover but aside from making the boot cover heavier and close with a nicer thud, i'm not sure how that will help in reducing noise? Some audio shops also do boot SP by removing the spare tire and filling it up with SP mats.

Actually, MI's proposal for SP the 4 doors and roof  is quite tempting except for the slightly high cost. its about $1150 for Forester. Can offset $200 (for every $1000 spent) if u have enough DUO points. essentially almost 20% discount. But then again, i doubt it will help to reduce road noise further which is the main culprit. Change to better tires may be the cheaper and more effective option to reduce road noise further.

Sad.

Tan Chong charges about $200 for full bumper respray if no dents. Half day job. MI might charge similar since they are affiliated.

The HU can display eng only, chinese only, mix eng and chinese characters perfectly when i play music using my iphone (music app) via bluetooth. haven tried pluggig in cable though.

I just choose "blue tooth audio" and YouTube a song. It works.

Bookings must have dropped tremendously since price increase last week or stocks for anticipated sales arrived, but no sales. Price drop back down to lure back buyers.

Good for buyers though.
