Cboonh 2nd Gear July 31, 2015 Share July 31, 2015 Guys, anyone know what is STI model? The front grill looks nice, any way to modify the FXT into this? Check out this vid. This guy added quite a number of things onto his ride to make it more STI-like and JDM-ish. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IcbF5bczjHI Also there's this subaru forester forum (subaruforester.org), it's a forum dedicated to forester and has an international community. Truckloads full of poisons/ideas that you can do to the car in there. Beware! Having said there, a lot of technical sharing and diy tips too. Have fun!
7hm Turbocharged July 31, 2015 Share July 31, 2015 Those who test-drive the Forester XT; how is the actual econ? 9km/l? Does it require 98 RON or 95 RON? Then also, I been wondering, Subaru insurance usually higher, or is this a false info I've been given? Guys, anyone know what is STI model? The front grill looks nice, any way to modify the FXT into this? Now MotorImage offers the so-called "Black-Edition" FXT for $5k extra. Has this same grille and some more STI garnishes like a rear under-diffuser, carbon interior trim and alcantara+leather STI badged seats from the factory. Then also, I been wondering, Subaru insurance usually higher, or is this a false info I've been given? RON 95 can. insurance I think only the WRX and STI will have higher insurance, it's already proven that Forester owner's insurance are within normal range. Whew. False alarm then. Because an extra 10¢/ℓ, adds up to maybe $5 extra if i always pump at half-tank, so it's $5/week, $20/month, adds up...!!!! Other thing I'm wondering about... this car, got puddle lamps, footwell lighting/ambience lighting? What about the rear sensors, does it show you on a display, or can view camera only? When I ask them can install front sensors, they told me can if top up, but when I ask them how can I tell whether it's front or rear beeping, they say the car will show on the MFD. Then also ...the headlamps, I know the mainbeam are HID xenon reflectors, but when I went to look up, it seems the high-beam are white-temperature halogen bulbs. Anyone can confirm it's not a full bi-xenon cluster?
Cboonh 2nd Gear August 1, 2015 Share August 1, 2015 Insurance premium the norm but the excess is higher right? Only if you take up the in house insurance plan. Checked with AIG, the excess for this particular model is higher (1.4k). I think Pocus pointed out before that AIG offers 'new for old' replacement in the event if the car is totaled. Probably one of the reasons.. I've asked for a few quotes from other insurers, quotes are lower (900-1.3k), and the excess is normal range. ($0-600).. AIG more branded lo. The last roUnd like two weeks back I saw the black edition model in MI on silver body still selling at 9k extra which doesn't feel worth it.

7hm Turbocharged August 1, 2015 Share August 1, 2015 I'm wondering... does the FXT have any interior ambience lighting or puddle lamps (under the exterior mirrors)? I can't seem to find concrete info on this. Then also, alamak, poison makes me want to replace the reflector main-beams.

Pocus Turbocharged August 1, 2015 Share August 1, 2015 (edited) The latest Forester catalog named the white color as Crystal White Pearl, NOT Satin White Pearl. Are they the same? Satin white is more whitish, Crystal white is more metallic. Imho Crystal white is less proned to yellowing due. From far Crystal white will look darker Edited August 1, 2015 by Pocus

Plus very curious to know it it has ambience/mood lighting and puddle lamps. Also, can someone kindly post photograph of the key fob? I saw a picture of it in the user manual (I like to read those when I am particularly interested in a car)... it looks like it came from 2002...
