Hi current owners of the FXT. I test drove the FXT and maybe I was going a little fast but I find the brakes to be a little soft. It doesn't bite very well when I try to brake.

Maybe bcos I'm coming from a conti car where the brakes tend to be effective. Or maybe it's just me.

Any comments or feedback on this?

Yes, compare to this class other brand SUVs, Forester's brake dics plate diameter too small, so its brake force weak relatively.

Now that you guys mentioned, I remember reading about complains of weak braking in the previous generation of Imprezas, especially the 2.0Rs.Many mitigate by replacing the stock rubber brake hose with steel braided hose.

Not sure if current Foresters are still using rubber hose. My test drive felt ok and didn't brake hard to feel.

Ok, another stuff to improve after I get my car.

Mine is almost the same as photo except without the red button.

I have no problem for the past 11months. Perhaps, you may have to adjust the seating position to suit you comfortably.

Did you also face the same leg discomfort initially? What is your longest driving hours? Just like to know if time can change or get use to it eventual Ly.

Mon-Fri, Avg 1hours to work. (East to West). Followed by 1 to 1.5 hours drive home and no discomfort on the paddles at all.

Tested drove on Sun.

yes...find that brakes not so responsive too.

prolly can upgrade brake hose to improve it?

has anyone done that?

Just FYI, i asked about the Black Ed, the SE gave me a $3000 discount.

Funnily I found the brakes a little too grabby at low speeds. Seemed to stop well for me.

Yes the reverse camera has the colour indicator lines and it has the reverse sensor.

I didn't use the camera when parking after the test drive. I usually use the mirrors and listen to the beeping sound [:)]

Up to now one of the main points for Forester from my fam is that it's tall, boxy, solid feeling... I have zero doubts it will survive a crash...

But then, I'm one of those few people who never felt safer in a raised up car. Plus, taller cars with higher C.O.G. will be more likely to roll over.

Anyway, that also makes me want to ask you guys, you find the car roll around a lot or not much?

But then now you guys mention the brakes seem weak... that's not reassuring.

Change the rear roll bar to something firmer. Quite a number of wowo owners do that for their xc90 and 60s.

The black edition is the addition of the following to the standard trim?

- STI Front Under Spoiler
- STI Rear Under Spoiler
- STI Leather Gear Knob
- STI Tower Bar
- Front LED DRL
- Carbon Fiber Panel
Seems a bit expensive to pay $5k, although some bros was given some discount...

It was 8k more for the black edition a few weeks ago when i booked my 2.0 premium.

Seems like its going at great discount now.

Forget the black edition.

More useful poison available by Cusco.

Take note of the following parts which I felt will help in handling without sacrificing comfort:

- 697 540 A

- 692 541 A (but too invasive to boot)

- 687 492 RS

- 677 492 RE

- 692 311 B20

Total price should be cheaper than the BE but you get the effect.

Current ride was on Cusco bars for 7 years, no complains!

Nice share!

I was reading up a little bit on the brake functionality upgrade. To improve braking performance there are a few things that came up repeatedly,

1) Upgrade the brake assembly, i.e. disc, calipers, brake pads etc (obvious, but will burn a big hole in the pocket, maybe overkill?)

2) Changing the stock tires (mixed reviews on the stock bridgestone Dueler tires)

3) Install a Master cylinder brace (reduces flex on the firewall when stepping on the brakes, giving you a surer feel)

The last of the three option is probably the least expensive and it offers quite a noticeable improvement from what I've read,,, I will probably do more research on the brakes. :D

More posion. This one is useless one.

Psst psst!! This HKS blow off valve (for our Forester) is to disturb others and piss off the TPs. LOL

Note:

For those who like to mod or watch initial D, you would have know most cars have a "codename"

eg. AE86, EG6, FD2R, ZC31A, etc.

Our current Forester is the SJ series.

Forester 2.0: SJ5

Forester XT: SJG

The codes will be useful if your are sourcing for parts of ordering from stocklist in the futures. Hope it helps.
