you mean your film is dark? At least autotint gave you a dark one 9years ago.

The current solar film they used for motorimage is so bad its not even dark!

My colleagues can still suan me say am I sure got solar film...

Haiz...

Not sure if Autotint standard drop or MI contract the cheapest film to cut cost!

Darken only however still within the approval range... been inspection thru out and was fine...

Guess it differs now... not sure if I should opt out mine when time comes...

My suggestion is to opt out, get that $50 and install the solar film outside.

MotorImage's autotint really that bad?

Quite ok for me though. The aircon is powerful and fan speed is strong so no problem cooling down the car during a hot day. Leathers also perforated so seats get cool quite fast too. I dun intend to change the solar film. I keeping the car as stock Z possible. Heh

I think the solar film is so-so. If you park your car in the hot sun everyday, you may want to consider an alternative. My dislike for this solar film is that I think it is a little reflective. I can see a slight reflection of the dashboard which is little distracting. Not sure if it is the film or just the angle of the windscreen.

I have not got the chance to test the screen with the Malaysian SmartTag system which uses IR for communication. My previous car (Nissan with in-house solar film) has no problem so I guess this may be the same (which is good).

I agree with the reflection portion especially at night which can distract you from viewing the road... I also think this is one of the reason why the LTA restricts the level of darkness...

RSChip, Race Chip, Unichip, Spider and ProRacing are some of the more common piggybacks available here.

Please don't waste time with piggybacks on a Forester XT when you can get a full ECU reflash by ECUtek...lol

More stable and no cumbersome setup and mounting.

For me how I rate solar film is very simple.

If the sun glare shine on my hands, limbs or face while drive and I feel the scorning heat just like when I wind down window, it's bad.

I believe most FXT drivers will feel what I describe.

A good film will block out the UV and you won't feel the heat on your skin at all. You just have to experience it once and you know. And contrary to popular belief, some ADs do give ave to good films.

Turbocharged

How does the FXT fair against the Beemer and Evoque. I know the Evoque is slightly perkier since it's lighter/smaller and has a better drivetrain. But the price [dead]

I'm driving the same engine as the Evoque, it's quite a responsive and willing engine. Revs nicely and sounds fine. Very refined as well.

But got some turbo lag since the turbo don't offer torque peak till about 2,400RPM.

The raw output numbers are almost identical to the Subaru Boxer in FXT and I think the consumption is similar. But of course, the transmission is different.

Of course it's easier and simpler. In some cases, even cheaper. However, if you're really hung up on MI's warranty restrictions, then piggybacks are the only worry-free choice. Unless you want to deal with flashing, then reflagging to stock while resetting flash counter, then reflashing again, and the reflashing to stock, and then...

Thought the heat comes from InfraRed not UV?

So selecting flim is look at UV block or heat block?

Sorry I mean IR.

But its the same for UV.

Actually, it is both IR and UV. The heat we feel and the oven-like environment that greets us when the car is parked under the sun is caused by IR. A solar film that reflects IR will help. Note that some films 'absorbs' IR and this is not that good because it will radiate the heat into the car.

UV is responsible for sun burns. The sun block lotion we use is to block UV. It is also bad for our eyes.

So look for both properties if you are are doing comparison shopping.

my old Legacy is on Huper Optik. Guess MI is just cutting corners now...

hope to have the new VW Tiguan soon, and also eventually the new Jeep Compass, to give Forester some serious competition...

and if Kah Motor brings in HR-Vs and CR-Vs with Honda Sensing safety feature, and also Mazda with their suite for CX-5, then maybe we have some hope for Eyesight...

Neutral Newbie

Hi all,

I am experiencing intermittent high and low radio volume in a 1 month old FXT, which are obvious when car coming to a stop, or moving off, or sometimes in motion when accelerator released.

To have a constant radio volume for a new car should be a fair request.

Appreciate your sharing and advice. Thank you.

Anybody have such similar issue?
