I have noticed that the 5 year free servicing seems to come back every few COE cycle.

If not urgent, then can wait for it to come back before committing.

bro, wake up so early ah! Holiday didn't sleep in? :P

The advertisement is saying 5 year or 100k "warranty". No longer says free 5 years servicing. It's still misleading though. Given that the promo just ended, agree that there may be a chance that one can still bargain. Good luck to those trying!

Went down to check on XV and Forester on National Day. safety and higher ground clearance comes top of my list as it also will be driven by my CO. boot space, rear seat space and FC are also some of my concerns; though FC wise to me it is acceptable for anything more than 10km/l for mixed driving.

First had to cross XV off the list due to the rear boot space, as it can rarely fit a big luggage without folding down rear seats.

Tested both XT and premium, indeed XT is a much better drive, i did not even manage to rev over 2k rpm in i-mode, fast, smooth and relatively quiet, does not feel the engine working hard at all; while premium also feels engaging but can hear the engine roar when its above 3k rpm, pick up is not fast but also smooth.

Initially wanted to get XT as it is only 9k more, insurance also about the same, if i m not wrong 60 or 80 more for first year. But salesperson recommended that my driving pattern does not require the turbo as he noticed i m quite light footed. Comparing to my current b&b sedan, pick up, horse power for both variants are already much better, so i followed the advise the booked a 2.0i.

there is no more 5 years free servicing and I did not manage to get it. in the end bought additional 3 years servicing for 1.5k and front/rear camera for 650. To me it is still acceptable as they don't cover wear/tear parts which MI charges much higher than outside workshops. The sum works out does not really save much.

Freebies are given such as car mat, solar film, gps and auto fold mirrors, i believe those are the standard ones.

COE is guaranteed 6 bids, though rebate level is quite low only 47,000.

their trade-in value is acceptable but not fantastic, my b&b 1.6 car left 14 months and they offered 4.5k above paper.

don't think 5 years free service is so important,

after 3 years, I rather go to outside trustworthy WS instead of in MI where don't know what they did inside.

rebate 47k? looks like you're impossible to get rebate,

some ADs offer 54k rebate

U r right, but this is my first time with MI so i am not sure what level they will bid with rebate at 47k. have to see next round.

if COE drops further, it is good for ppl who's watching and waiting.

Maybe we can start a WhatsApp group to share info? Send me a pm and I`ll kick start one?

Nice share, very poisonous!

I think we can start awhatsapp group since the facebook or forum is not really that active and i think most of them are the older forester also... our whatsapp group will mainly be new buyer of the 2015 forester.

I am always curious why MI is quite reluctant to give out more freebies than their sister company to improve sales.

Their profit margin is also quite similar to Nissan but Nissan can give free camera, insurance, etc.

I guess maybe subaru is marketed as a premium Jap Brand.

Yea yea. Earlier went to Nissan to check out the qq, their cat b coe rebate is 57k. Different strategy although they have the same parent..

I would have gone ahead and get the quashai 1.2T if there is no more 5 year free servicing.

Almost 20k cheaper with more freebies.

If 3 years servicing is worth $1.5K, did MI mention how much is 5 years servicing?

And for the GPS, is it a separate unit or inbuilt as part of car HU?

GPS is a separate unit. they did mention 2 years is 1k. i think the pricing is available on subaru website. there are 3 different kinds of service packages (type 3 being most expensive for 40k and 80k), and 3 years servicing covers 2 for type 1, 2 for type 2 and 1 for type 3 plus the free servicing till 10km. 5 years servicing will incur additional 2 for type 1, 1 for type 2 and 1 for type 3, so total should be around 2.5k.

i did not ask for 5 years becoz after 3 years, i am not sure if i will still stick with MI, as wear/tear parts need to be replaced like tyres, brakepads etc coming 3 years mark, they tend to rip u off on those items, and the free servicing then wont make any sense.

when i asked the salesperson why subaru omw is so low, he kind of dodged my question by saying yen depreciation. i highly suspect forester is only imported as bare bone units without HU, leather seats, sunroof etc and assembled in Singapore. If that's the case, subaru may not enjoy as high margin as nissan as local labor costs and parts incurred. Also they are not mass volume seller, so each car sold counts. they may reached their sales target for the quarter so they will start to increase the margin.

on a side note, subaru is selling for over 200k for XT and 170k+ for premium in malaysia and the spec in premium is slightly different from SG variant. If u compare with other Jap/korea brands with same budget in Singapore say 120k range, u will find those are selling at 150k or less up north. I suspect Malaysia ones are fully imported, so the omv is higher thus need to bring the price higher to achieve margin target. But in SG if u import the full spec MI will need to price it at the same level as RAV4/CRV, which then it faces stronger competition.

no matter what it is, Tan Chong has made it in a way that for this price there is no other brands to compete, and u get either get a forester or a Qashqai 2.0 premium, it is up to individuals to decide on their preferences. But which ever sells, they are the winner.

It makes sense why they are reluctant to give freebies now that you reminded me of how they import only the bare car and install everything locally.

Haha.. sounds like those gray areas.

Saw the Preventive Maintenance package on MI Website is listed as $1319 for 2 yrs and $1950 for 3 years.including brake pads, drive belting and bulbs, Did not find package pricing for Servicing.

Neutral Newbie

This SG50 weekend really very unlucky. I parked my 2 plus week old FXT outside my main gate for just half an hour. Some a**hole drove by and left the following damage on my car. I have no clue whether the culprit was driving a car or a bike. The worse thing is the car door is even slightly dented along the scratch line.

Bros, can anyone advise what is the best remedy? Should I get a paint job done? What is the best thing I can do to cover up the scratch line and get rid of the slight dent?
