If u are driving NA, no need to think, Cusco. The NA stock cost so much is cuz of self levelling function. I've been trying to see it work but no luck even after loading my boot. Not really necessary, so if I were to change, I'll change Cusco.

For XT not so straightforward cuz XT stock damper is way cheaper. But of cuz u get the adjustability if u change to cusco. It whether u wanna fork out a few hundred more. I would think it's worth it.

Hi ZP,

Interesting .. know suspension set up of fna and fxt are different but din know FNA is self levelling type and cost so much.

Cheers.

I actually also didn't know initially. It was when I first installed the WRX ARB when chatting with Ah Keong about switching to pink springs then I know. He reminded to get the correct one for NA.

Hi mycar1234,

How much is the selling price of the aircon filter?

MI probably cost you $50, online you can get it as low as $7.

Heard someone comment non original air filter may cause your car warranty to void. Anyway they won't know that unless you ask for the service.

Which brand?

It's cheap.

Anyway, the original cabin filter is made in China.

I went to car service recently and request them to blow the aircon filter as their selling price really too expensive. 2 weeks later when I got my new filter and changed it myself, shock that the filter was so dusty, first thing in my mind was they never did it. I wrote to complain and after a month of investigation the customer service called to explain that the workshop told them they do did the job, the dust was collected within 2 weeks as it is possible I went to dusty environment. I am not expert on this, but ask me to believed in this answer I really can't accept it.

I got those aircon filters from Taobao and they are so cheap... I change every 6 months. Even those selling at shops are like $45.. not expensive items and for health reason should change 1-3 filter a year depending on how dusty is the environment. Never just blow it..

I also thought of buying from Taobao but I'm concerned the filter material may contain other toxic fumes which get blown into the cabin? Maybe I'm just overly worried? Ha ha...

Search from Lazada, go by the model Subaru 72880FG000

Ship from China, the quality nearly no different from the original

I want to change a new air filter, as it cost me more than $50, so decided to go for online order. Since they don’t charge for blowing the air filter, just no harm to do it. Really disappointed when I noted they didn’t perform the job(service slip indicated they performed the job) and give me a funny excuse!

Surely will change the air filter every 10k myself in future.

Neutral Newbie

Hi Alfie, less than a year refers to 1 month or 11 months? If its the latter, than i would say no harm doing a first round of valve cleaning instead of letting the carbon buildup at later stage. You'll also get a before and after report which will also let you know the state of the carbon buildup at say 1yr. Maybe can share your report here for knowledge sharing.

Hi Orixy, Mine is 11 months old. since my ride is FNA, will there be any significant changes?

Hi Alfie, i think a lot depends on your driving style (relaxed or aggressive) and the maintenance care regime.

For a 11months old FNA, yours should be using the FB20B engine which is not a direct injection engine. Meaning fuel are still being sprayed onto the intake valves and you're spared from the clogged valves of direct injection engine like the FXT's FA20DIT.

They seldom will touch that area unless your glove compartment is quite empty as need to remove that to access the aircon filter. Just change yourself every 6 months will do, doesn’t have to be every 10k unless the environment the car is parked is extremely dusty

Hi Orixy,

Even FA20DIT, there is no clogged intake valve symptoms that will decrease the performance of the engine.

People in china use it themselves for months, if they can use it in their horrible road and air conditions, i dont see why we cant use it here in sg.
