But after actually serving (and finding out that it's actually not so bad), I realised this is really a necessity. Our island is the only place where we can truly call home. Nowhere else. If we don't defend it, who else will? Somewhere out there, I know there are NSF/NSmen/Regulars who are on standby, SAF personnel involved in the NDP, ICA personnel who are on duty, or even TP/Cisco who are working to direct traffic.. I salute all of you who, on this national holiday, sacrifice your time with your family to keep our borders safe and secure. But we can't don't love Singapore, for this is our home. No other place will feel the same, our mixed flavour cuisine, the ever-present singlish, various version of Kopi and Teh, and our love and hate relationship with acronyms. This is uniquely Singapore. I believe, as long as our Singaporean core is strong, foreigners will not be able to change our way of life no matter what. HAPPY 50th BIRTHDAY SINGAPORE!!! Agree, haven't watch NDP parade for years but this is SG50, so can't miss it. Proud to be Singaporean and to be one of those who stop them or at least slow them down in GE2011, otherwise not sure if we will still have a strong Singapore core in 5 years time. For avoidance of doubt, I am not against import but I don't really want to work in civil service, SAF or the cabinet to be in the core. hahaha....
