Actually headhunter will look for you if you are good ie make a name in industry :)

If TS was so good he would be too busy fighting off offers from

headhunters and not spend his time here asking if he should contact

them. So yes TS should contact the headhunters.  [thumbsup]

:D

As for adding your boss to your Linkedin.

This is something I wouldn't do personally.

It just defeats the whole purpose of Linkedin.

Hi

I'm planning to switch job/company in 2016. I have already submitted my CV to some headhunters quite some time ago.

I know some roles are only given to headhunters before being posted online in website. But now there are so many headhunters out there (just search in Google or LinkedIn), so how should I proceed?

1) Contact each & every headhunter company to link myself up with them?

2) Go to my LinkedIn contacts and drop a message to all those who are headhunters to let them know I'm on the lookout?

3) Update my CV in LinkedIn and wait indefinitely for someone to contact me?

4) Any other subtle approaches?

- Not possible to put a "on the lookout" message on my LinkedIn profile because my boss is in my LinkedIn contacts and he can see !!

- I do not wish to contact fellow peers to help me refer/link up because they could also be my competitors for the vacancies

Appreciate some useful advice please ....

I just love the attitude.

Not shy to ask for help here but scared competitors looking at the same vacancies.

Some company will be very lucky to get a wonderful employee like you.  [thumbsup]

certain positions in my industry are quite hard to get ... as in it is not often available unless one leaves or retires. So for that position, there will be a handful of people who are equally qualified vying for it.

I'm not the type who speaks or writes very well like a professional English teacher from British Council but I think I can do reasonably well in speaking and writing. My networking is so-so only ...

So competition is quite high in my line & level.

Ok.

I'm looking for an insurance claims handler/claims executive, preferably with marine liability/transport liability/cargo claims experience. If experienced in other insurance lines and willing to learn the marine side of things we can teach.

Someone with a legal or insurance education would be preferred as well.

PM me if got anyone.

No insurance or legal education. But I can tell the difference from Port and Starboard, Bow and Stern. Like that can? [:p]

He should go to his boss' profile.

It probably also says that he is on the look out for opportunities.

Yeah good idea  [thumbsup]

Send his boss profile to headhunters

and when his boss moves, he can just

take his boss' position.

wow, this is a great strategy.. very creative

unfortunately, i think my boss will not find any role... i can't see him willing to take a 90% pay cut to perform the kind of menial work he does now

better that i look for a job myself  [laugh]

If someone says money is not one of their top priority, he's working for fun. He can send me all his $$$ while having fun doing his work. Fortunately, 99.99% of Singaporeans are honest to say pay is very important. They are working for fund, not fun.

I will add my boss to linkedin, after I left the company; in case they want to hire me back with a bigger pay cheque - I need to give my boss a chance.

TS,

besides current available positions of your desired roles, also visit all historical columns that once had your ideal position(s) ...... this includes those at the higher poistions than you desired for as long as its if the same business titles (be it of same or different industry)

by now, there could be flooded with CVs that had already been available, but not all that have really been 'closed' or 're-opened'...

note down all the concerned or represented recruiters, agencies, or so-called 'headhunters' . . .....

start calling them to find out 'who' is the exact person or particular group/section that were responsible for those past roles/industry . . . .

of coz, you can either tell them you are the applicator or the hiring boss......

you will be able to siphon from here which particular agents or headhunters whom really or seriously knows that industry, job roles and markets well enuff......since you are on that profession.....

from here, you should be able to make an appointment with them for a casual chat or to furbish your CVs

and sounding from them about your 'marketability' and 'value'... etc.

you should also be flexible to change your expectations according to market trend and needs, as well as 'daring enuff; to wear bigger hats if there are opportunities, be it local or regional level, biz travels & assignments etc...

note:

nowadays, to earn a remunerations above 10k, one gotta put himself in the regional or area positions.....

.

.

.

.

lastly, ask yourself if you are being impulsive, giving-up or if there's any 'push...pull' factor for you to leave!

dun rush into it cos everyone here knows that 2016's employment market is not getting any better than 2015!!!

from here, I guess you do NOT trust any of your colleagues or even your supervisor/boss..... right?

- if there's no push..... then take your time to 'locate' your pull......

- look for someone whom you can trust to find out what's in it for you to remain in yoru company

hopes my advise above helps you

cheers!
