BanCoe Hypersonic April 5, 2016 Share April 5, 2016 India, cannot eat at road stalls... confirmed serious Merlion style. Even eat at their 6 star hotels, already Merlion liao...... We Singaporeans need strong guts , all this six packs that many aim for " trending style" and you look at the Indian or Bangla construction worker here toiling under hot sun or hazardous working conditions or other elements of weather and above that you look at what kind of food they get here which might have been prepacked in the morning and consider again the living conditions they go back to at night and shower; I tell my kids - you guys are nowhere !! ↡ Advertisement
Meanmachine Supercharged April 5, 2016 Share April 5, 2016 (edited) They used to have free distribution of school books last time- do they still have it now?? I remember reading the papers that there was a big crowd waiting to grab the books which were meant for lower income homes/ people ..... they mentioned people coming in Mercs. picking them up ...but then again could be be car drivers (chauffeurs) picking them up too They used to have free distribution of school books last time- do they still have it now?? I remember reading the papers that there was a big crowd waiting to grab the books which were meant for lower income homes/ people ..... they mentioned people coming in Mercs. picking them up ...but then again could be be car drivers (chauffeurs) picking them up too I laugh and laugh, My place Community Centre placed a big bin outside the hall to collect used text book for recycling to lower secondary students so everyone will benefit from it. After a week, an elderly garung guni PRC lady came , saw and scoop-up all except few torn books and happily crawl back on her trolley laden with books,my neighbour saw, informed the CC staff on duty, they replied, " Why they take huh ? " and didn't even sent someone to check . . . " Say something like, it's not my problem since it was placed outside the area, anybody can come to pick up without any assistance." My concern: Why put up this initiative without a thought for irresponsible people not meant for them? plus at least a camera to capture any illegal pilferages of donating books for the needy. Till today, no camera install to monitor the situation, yet at every lobby lift, we had one too many. Edited April 5, 2016 by Meanmachine

But theirs is just leave books you don't want there and take any book you want. I have seen people come and grab one whole bag of books. Never even see what books they take, just grab as much as they can.
