almond78 1st Gear July 19, 2016 Share July 19, 2016 LOL.... its calculated risk. Thats why people usually renew something thats worth to renew. Eg, my vios only 6K+ scrap. Thats the max risk exposure I have. If COE going to drop to 30K in Dec like what you said. Im more than happy to give this 6K+ to Gov and buy a new car. Afterall, I already saved more than 20K from the COE drop (current Cat A COE of 52K - 30K)... simple math i think? My personal thought is if COE dropped by 20k, will car price also drop 20k? Maybe 10-15k the most.. After deducting scrap value... Diff less than 10k over 10yrs. Plus wear and tear, servicing.. Assuming you getting back a B&B car such as Toyota axio, at appx 90k, dep is actually about 8k per year. About 2k more than driving an older car while facing potential car defects. Unless COE could drop to only 10k then probably there is real savings. But will that day come?

Fruit-tart 3rd Gear July 19, 2016 Share July 19, 2016 Nothing wrong with that, I dont undestand why there are plp who is not happy with others waiting for COE to drop, its individual choice. Perhaps they have secured their COE so not happy to hear people say COE will drop [shakehead] ? For me, even I have got my COE, I still wish to see COE drop below 10K, if possible, $1 would be the best.... well, who doesnt like to change car every 3~5 yrs? yeah. exactly... thanks.. i agree. some people probably either not happy that coe will drop , cause they cannot wait or they have secured their coe at higher price, so see people buy coe lower price and cheaper, not happy.. or either way, they are actually salesman and want faster earn commission, so ask people faster buy buy buy... but who cares? i think coe will drop, meaning i am willing to wait. eventhough people not happy, cant do anything about it. i am not the only one waiting for coe to drop anyway.. tons of people are waiting at the sideline for coe drop, and believe will drop. since we r willing to wait, why not? hahaha thanks. so this round coe bidding.. i am still hopeful... coe for cat a b e, will drop to below 10k..wahahaha..of course, $1 or $2 will be the best(as u have mentioned)... and i am hopeful for that as well... My personal thought is if COE dropped by 20k, will car price also drop 20k? Maybe 10-15k the most.. After deducting scrap value... Diff less than 10k over 10yrs. Plus wear and tear, servicing.. Make a bid at every intervals and then hope for the best. If you wait for 10k and if really comes, the showrooms will be flooded and the next bid and after would go up. For me 20k coe would be good enough and I will go for guaranteed bid. Edited July 19, 2016 by Dumb

My prediction for this round may likely to go up by 1K - 2K for all CATs. The next round will be in the 7th Month and most of them will wish to have their new 4-wheelers to come out before 7th Month :) CAT A - 53,800 CAT B - 58,100 CAT E - 57,000

MAS should have stick to 50% with 5 years loan
