Osprey23 Turbocharged October 31, 2016 Share October 31, 2016 Jose Mourinho behaving the way his critics say he would Jose might really have to control a bit. He must understand that his appointment isn't backed whole heartedly by some of the linchpins on the Man Utd board. He must stop giving them the bullets to shoot him. ↡ Advertisement
Galantspeedz Turbocharged October 31, 2016 Share October 31, 2016 Most creative teams in EPL and top 5 European league. Man Utd fans shouldn't be too worry then. Once the strikers find their scoring boots, they should be fine. did arsenal become more clinical or are the stats wrong? lol
Osprey23 Turbocharged October 31, 2016 Share October 31, 2016 i tend to agree too. Karius went too rashly for the first goal. worse still, I am not sure why he is jumping with his hands down. he was well inside the box so no risk of handball. Admittedly, it was Lovren's mistake but Karius' decision-making was poor. I believe even if the player had time to bring the ball down under control, Karius have a better chance at saving it, since there was also some defenders nearby. For the 2nd goal, the defence was abit static and Lovren probably did not expect to be beaten on the jump. Karius was also not prepared for the header too and watched helplessly as the ball hit the net. Both goals are due to poor defending. To me, it seems like Karius isn't fully confident at the moment. He only saves well when the shots are straight at him. He even spills the balls on a couple of occasions. The funny takeaway for Pool in this game is that they expected to be under the onslaught of Benteke and the set pieces threat. Pardew was pretty sure that Beneteke wlll score with his head. The outcome was Pool scored from 2 set pieces instead. The game of football is really unpredictable.. lol Beg to differ on the first goal. First and foremost, Karius wasn't prepared to deal with that situation whereby a centreback would sliced his backpass/clearance right to the attacker. He had to rush out as he was already away from his goal. Retreating back is not going to help much. Next, he needs to make a decision on his arm position. He won't be able to react in time to see whether McArthur is going high or straight. Karius' decision to open his arms was to try to stop the ball should McArthur goes straight as that would be a certain goal. Forcing him to go high, there is a chance his looping header might go above the bar or the covering defender had chance to reach it. We can always question decisions but at that moment, Karius must make that split second decision and I don't think he did wrong in that. As said, Karius still got to understand his defenders better. After this game, I believe he will have a better idea of Lovren's limitation and be more prepared next time.
Fooblack Supercharged October 31, 2016 Share October 31, 2016 Goes to show for Man United, they are creating chances but not taking them. I don't normally believe in luck for football but must say United were really unlucky vs Burnley n Stoke previously as well. The 2 opposing goalies n the woodwork combined to thwart them. That Heaton not very far from being the England no. 1 n just to bad he playing for a small club. Think he has overtaken Fraser Foerster who is not too bad a goalie as well n again reinforces the fact that the standard of goalkeeping this season is really top notch

Spring Moderator October 31, 2016 Share October 31, 2016 to be fair to utd, i think they played well for both games but the they have not been clinical enough in front of goal. The swagger of Ibrahimovic is also not there. he keeps getting into good positions but unable to finish the goal. Mourinho needs to be careful with his disciplinary issues. He is chalking them up faster than the goals that Utd has been scoring in the EPL. I agree, United played OK and should have won easily. They snatching at chances and their confidence not exactly high. JM doesn't help matters by getting into squabbles and getting sent off, his body language and persona looks like he'll start his siege mentality method again which doesn't work anymore IMO. I always felt coming into EPL at his age was too late for Ibra but he seem to make me eat my words during the first few games but last few, he has shown why many doubted him. He will always have some flashes of brilliance, that's for sure cos he is a class player but to do it consistently in such an intense League with no winter break n harsh conditions coming up soon, I worry for him and United.

The key principle to such situation, is to make yourself as big an obstacle as possible. He jumped because there is no way McArthur can allow the ball to reach his feet before hitting, so ground level safe. Also by jumping, there might be a chance for the ball to hit his head should McArthur underhit it. The position Karius is facing, is that McArthur has now 3 directions to choose to plant his header. Over the top, to his left or to his right. If Karius chose to raise arms, he left 2 positions uncovered. Spreading out arms, he left 1 position uncovered. His hands wasn't tucked to his side throughout. He only withdrew them after McArthur headed the ball and the two are colliding onto each other. That's instinctive I think. The picture I showed below is when McArthur was about to head it. Karius' arms were opened That's my analysis and hence I won't fault him there. His body language seems to imply a loss of confidence. Starting from the game against Pool, he missed a couple of trademark goals.. then it was a bit downhill from then on..

The demands of epl means younger players will be preferred; players who can run post to post, attack and defend at super quick pace. Therefore, not easy for senior citizen players however good they are. After Christmas/New year, their stamina and sharpness thresholds will be exposed. Ibra and Rooney have a lot to prove, but can they sustain such physical demands of the epl games week in week out? Pool will do well if they get 4th. to a certain extent, this looks a reasonable prediction. Pool and Chelsea do not have any European football distraction. They can both play 1 game at a time in most weeks. That to me, is a tremendous advantage. Leciester used the advantage to the max last season. Liverpool almost capitalised 3 seasons ago when Suarez and sterling were around. ↡ Advertisement
