  4. I have said before that Kenny might be sacked end of season when top 4th finish was out of grasp. Sadly, it came true. FSG must have the balls of steel to sack a legend in the eyes of all Liverpool fans worldwide. However, it is also such firm decision that gives me the assurance that the owners do mean business. Credit to King Kenny, though utterly disappointed, he carried himself like a true legend after the sacking. He asked fans not to jump to any conclusion as the owners must have their reasons for doing what they did. He urged the board and fans to support the new guy like how they had supported him. That leads to the next question. Who is the new guy? Whoever now can tell you for sure who he is going to be, is pure bullocks. Even FSG do not know. They have set forth their criteria and those who met it, will be invited for an interview. From what I have gathered, 2 candidates have already been invited. FSG are looking for one who will be able to take on the project long term, probably 5 years or more. They want the person to have necessary credential, meaning to have won major trophies in his management career. They want someone who has the passion, the hunger and the determination to carry out their plan - to bring glory back to Liverpool. Based on the above, only 3 persons whom I think meet the criteria and willing to take on the job come to mind - Andrea Villas-Boas, Jurgen Klopp and Rafa Benitez. Let's hope I will not be too far off on this one. Each one of them is a worthy replacement in my opinion. Lastly, I shall leave you with the wishes from Suarez, which I believe echoed many Liverpool fans and those associated with the club: "KENNY thank you very much for all your help and things I learned from you during 1 year and a half! A big hug and good luck!!"

  7. http://www.businesstimes.com.sg/sub/motor/...,392732,00.html? COE premiums for big cars may rise more The deregistration trend of April fails to continue into May, at least for Cat A cars By SAMUEL EE THE deregistration trend means the doomsday scenario for the new COE quota may not pan out after all and there could even be a marginal increase for small cars, which means stable premiums. But big-car buyers should be prepared to pay more for a certificate of entitlement (COE). Pre-owned car deals: Sales of second-hand cars have not risen as much as expected. In May, the number of vehicles transferred saw a sharp drop of about 1,000 units for cars - from 4,746 in April to 3,749 last month In April, the number of deregistered vehicles in Category A (for cars below 1,600cc) and Category B (cars above 1,600cc) plunged into rare three-figure territory. This sparked fears that the next COE quota from August 2010 to January 2011 will shrink by unprecedented levels. This is because the amount of COEs released will now be determined largely by the number of vehicles deregistered in the preceding six months, in this case from January to June 2010. But the deregistration downtrend did not continue into May, at least for cars below 1,600cc, which rebounded into four-figure territory - 1,006 to be precise, according to Land Transport Authority figures. If this trend stays the same for June, then Cat A may see a one per cent increase in its monthly quota to 1,407 COEs from August onwards (based on rough assumptions of COE allocation). However, Cat B deregistrations in May stayed low and largely unchanged at 733, so if this persists, the new monthly Cat B quota could shrink by 15 per cent to 936. The open category - Cat E - which is often used to register big cars, could also contract by 5 per cent to 682. But Cat C - commercial vehicles - could rise by 13 per cent to 399 due to slightly higher deregistrations, while Cat D - for motorcycles - could dip just one per cent to 665. So the good news is that Cat A and Cat C premiums should remain stable, benefiting buyers of bread-and-butter models, as well as business owners. But the twin reductions in Cat B and Cat E allocation could cause big car premiums to rise. If the premium increases are sharp, they could have the effect of slowing down the recent strong growth in luxury car sales. Another phenomenon that has not panned out is the forecast spike in sales of second-hand cars. When COE premiums began rising in late March, the used-car industry prepared itself for a revival in fortunes. Sales of such pre-owned cars have since risen, but not by as much as expected. In fact, in May the number of vehicles transferred saw a sharp drop of about 1,000 units for cars - from 4,746 cars in April to 3,749 in May.
  8. Like many other automakers, Audi is constantly expanding its production network to include new countries. This time, the German premium carmaker has launched a new assembly plant in Indonesia in cooperation with INDOMOBIL /Garuda Mataram Motor, to produce the Audi A4 1.8 TFSI and A6 2.0 TFSI cars in the capital city Jakarta. The first A4 and A6 models were delivered to Indonesian customers earlier this month, with the German company planning to assemble around 2,700 cars per year by 2015, including 2,000 A4 models, exclusively for the Indonesian market. Audi said the Indonesian car market is forecast to grow by 15 percent this year, with sales in the premium segment expected to double over the next five years.
  9. Three years after the 'spygate' scandal of 2007, a case alleging sabotage by espionage conspirator Nigel Stepney began in Italy on Wednesday. As the Monaco paddock is set up on Wednesday, the case harks back to the fabled street race of 2007, with sacked former chief mechanic Stepney accused of trying to ruin Ferrari's chances by adding white powder to the fuel tanks. According to reports including by the ANSA news agency, the trial began on Wednesday in a court in Sassuolo, in Italy's Emilia-Romagna region. Briton Stepney did not appear in person, the German news agency SID reported. Source: GMM
  10. Last month, Toyota recalled 133,000 2010 Prius models due to a braking issue that could cause a momentary loss of stopping power. However, in many of the claims filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the vehicle's cruise control was brought into question, with drivers stating that they had difficulty getting the system to turn off when the brake pedal was depressed. According to Ward's Auto, 11 percent of all 2010 Prius complaints filed with NHTSA cite this issue. Toyota is now starting to look deeper into these complaints, and believes that the majority of them are the result of driver confusion over the Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC), which is an option on the top-rung Prius V trim. In talking with Ward's, Toyota spokesperson Dave Lee says that drivers are confusing the Prius' adaptive cruise control for unintended acceleration. Lee states that when drivers use the cruise stalk to adjust vehicle speed, the rate of acceleration is much higher than when the gas pedal is pressed
  11. In recent years violent crimes that involved foreigners living in Singapore were often perpetrated against their own countrymen. These murders were crimes of passion - usually between foreigners who knew each other. It's work-related stress some would say, which are very much isolated incidents within the foreign worker community, others would mention to allay public fears. Many in several online forums say that a lax policy of allowing in foreign "talent" would eventually import crime to Singapore. But would crimes where foreign malefactors - who care little about (or are simply oblivious to) local laws and enforcement - commit violent crimes against law-abiding locals who are perfect strangers? What if it becomes random out of greed (murder-robberies/kidnap) or lust (rape)? Is this the first sign of that spillover? Decomposed body identified April 21, 2009 By Diana Othman THE highly decomposed body found in a forested area off Sembawang Road last week has been identified as cabby Yuen Swee Hong, 58. Police have arrested a suspect - a Chinese national - in connection to his death. The 30-year-old suspect will be charged in court on Wednesday with murder, which carries the death penalty on conviction. Mr Yuen was believed to have been robbed and killed. It is understood that the Special Operations Command and the Police Dog Unit combed the area for clues for almost 15 hours after the grisly find. Mr Yuen was one of the two bodies discovered last week. The body of 35-year-old Bharat Singh was retrieved from the Singapore River opposite The Riverwalk complex on Sunday morning. - Straits Times I'm unsure of the details, but if the alleged killler did this simply because it was a means for him to rob someone, anyone, then maybe we should all start being concerned and question whether being overly-welcoming is such a good idea after all. I hope I'm overreacting. I really do. But I can't help but worry if this becomes a trend. More here: Cabby's murder: man charged By Elena Chong A CHINA national, charged on Wednesday with a cabby's murder, had apparently tried to extort $150,000 from the taxi driver's wife. Wang Wenfeng, 30, was first produced in court last week together Wang Wufu for attempted extortion of $150,000 from Madam Chan Oi Lin, a housewife, by putting her in fear that harm would befall her husband, Mr Yuen Swee Hong, 58. The alleged offence took place near Beach Road at about 9am on April 11. Mr Yuen's decomposed body was found in a forested area off Sembawang Road last Friday. Wenfeng is accused of murdering Mr Yuen at Jalan Selimang in Sembawang between 10.57pm on April 10 and 6.52am the next day. Wufu, who was charged in court last week for attempted extortion, was given a discharge not amounting to an acquittal on Wednesday. Wenfeng is remanded at Central police division for further investigation. His case will be mentioned on April 29. - The Straits Times
  12. July 3, 2008 CNG labelling: Just whose rule is it? I CONVERTED my saloon car to a compressed natural gas (CNG)-run vehicle recently. Upon receiving my vehicle, I found two poorly designed green CNG labels pasted on the front and rear bumpers and was told by the workshop that they are a Land Transport Authority (LTA) requirement. The workshop staff also cautioned me that drivers of CNG vehicles without the labels could be fined. However, lately I realised that white CNG Mercedes taxis do not bear such labels. I called LTA to inquire and was told that it does not have a regulation on CNG labelling. LTA said it was a Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) requirement for fire-fighting purposes. Upon further clarification with the SCDF, I was told it, too, does not have such a regulation. The officer suggested it was Spring Singapore that requested the CNG labelling. I hope the relevant authorities can confirm if there is such a regulation. I would also like to inquire if there is a better way of indicating a CNG vehicle, such as number-plates of a different colour or a properly-designed decal. 14. Tokyo, Japan, June. 25, 2003 - (JCN Newswire) - Mazda Motor Corporation today began production of its next 'new generation' vehicle. The new product - to be named "Mazda Axela" in the Japanese market and Mazda3 in all other global markets - is the fourth all-new Mazda developed under the company's DNA-focused product creation system and will follow closely the success of the Mazda6 (known as the Atenza in Japan), Mazda2 (Demio) and Mazda RX-8. The newest Mazda will be officially launched at the 60th Frankfurt Motor Show in early September 2003. The newest Mazda is designed to blur the lines of conventional vehicle segmentation, offering traditional C-segment customers more in terms of design, craftsmanship and interior packaging, as well as a dynamic driving experience often associated with European-built vehicles. Recent Mazda products, developed and built using these same priorities, have helped the company achieve critical product acclaim from customers and media, including more than 50 international awards for the Mazda6/Atenza and the "2003 International Engine of the Year" award for the RENESIS rotary engine in the new Mazda RX-8. To mark the start of production, a ceremony was held at Mazda's Hofu Plant in the Yamaguchi Prefecture of Japan. The official Job #1 vehicle, a European-specification, five-door, hatchback in Winning Blue, was greeted off the line by union representatives, Mazda employees and key company directors, including Hisakazu Imaki, Executive Vice President, Chief Engineering & Manufacturing Officer. The newest Mazda embodies the design direction presented in the Mazda MX Sportif concept, which was showcased at the Geneva International Motor Show in March 2003. The strong Mazda brand DNA - stylish, insightful and spirited - can be found throughout the vehicle. Key development targets for new Mazda3 included: - A prominent and well-defined Mazda design based on distinct, muscular proportions and dynamic athleticism - Mazda's highest levels of craftsmanship and quality to ensure high value for customers - Superbly balanced vehicle dynamics able to deliver class-leading Mazda driving pleasure that is often associated with European cars - Optimal interior space and innovative packing solutions to maximize usability Additional product detail, including information pertaining to body styles, packages, powertrains and pricing of the new Mazda3, will be officially announced during the Frankfurt Auto Show. The vehicle will go on sale in Europe in the fall and will be introduced into key markets through the fourth quarter of calendar year 2003 and into the first quarter of 2004. In the critical Japanese market, where the vehicle will see an autumn debut, the name Axela was developed by combining the English words "accelerate" and "excellent." This name was created to communicate the youthful exhilaration of fun driving - acceleration - with infinite possibilities, as represented in "X." http://www.japancorp.net/Article.Asp?Art_ID=5361
