Leinad8919 Turbocharged February 19, 2017 Share February 19, 2017 At the start of the day, when accelerating, can hear chirping sound coming from below, it only goes off after travelling on the expressway for awhile. Can anyone tell me whats the issue? Just spray some water based lub (WD-40) onto the belt. The sound will go away. Not sure KY jelly works even though it's water based & handy in the glove compartment.
Yhn 4th Gear February 20, 2017 Share February 20, 2017 If your vehicle has only a few month b4 scrap, squirt some soap solution will do away the chirp. Anyway it's chip chip only to have the belt(s) changed
Dumb 4th Gear February 21, 2017 Share February 21, 2017 I lived with the sound for nearly 2 months. Send car for other services and asked WS to check belting. The WS checked and tighten the belts and yet the sound comes on again the next day. Next send car for normal servicing with another WS and told them about the sound and if necessary check and change whatever belt that caused the sound, WS checked and said no need to change belt. Yet the sound is still there the next day. Finally send to a third WS nearby and arrived there with the sound still there. With that the WS determined that the crankshaft pulley need to change. Thereafter no problem.
Plau February 22, 2017 Share February 22, 2017 I'm driving a 2008 Harrier, recently I notice on & off some abnormal sound from the engine compartment when I accelerate, like wind blowing through a louver. Though it doesn't affect the performance of the car, just wonder anyone has such experiencing before?

Does the car sounds like supercharge but car not supercharge? Are you able to see your batt volt via meter when driving? i also saw the volt drop to 13. something instead of the usual 14.3-4V. For my case, it was the alternator. Edited February 22, 2017 by James996

Plau February 22, 2017 Share February 22, 2017 It doesn't sound like supercharge and my battery voltage is constant between 13.7-14v. it's only a short "Whooo" sound when I step on the accelerator.
