Car thefts in MSIA - unlocking car with keyless entry

Mine cannot. The car will unlock when my hand gets near the handle inside

 

Folded mirrors and locking sound are the only ways to tell if it's locked

Try pulling the handle from the rear passenger side to check.

 

For sienta only front 2 doors gets auto unlock when I put my hands near.

 

Rear passenger does not unlock automatically.

Mine locks and unlocks at 4 doors.. Can't do your method.

Anyway if the motor really spoil pulling one of the door doesn't guarantee the other 3 is properly locked.

 

The important thing is still exercise due diligence.. don't expose anything in the car.

Keep it as empty as possible from outside view

Use some aluminium foil and wrap around your remote.

 

ha ha... i did that when i went Malacca in June...

 

had a aluminium wrapper for some med, size just right can slip the smart key inside...

I got a scare when I went to Aeon Bukit Indah a few years ago. I exited the shopping mall and could not find my car. For a few minutes I was stunned, but soon I realised I exited from a different exit.

 

From then on, I bought a steering wheel lock just to be safe. Determined car thieves can still saw through the steering wheel if the lock is not positioned properly* but that will take a few minutes.

 

The safest is still the pedal type below. The only way to steal the car is to tow it away. I also bought one just in case in JB.

* Proper position is to clamp around the shorter circumference at the 4 o'clock point so that the metal lock protects from sawing attempt.

Steering lock can deter car theft.

 

But it might cost your life.

 

It takes 2 mins to unlock the lock and keep it somewhere else.

It works great, until the battery dies, then you're trapped inside.

For BMW or Mini, I was not trapped in the car when battery flat.

 

There is a failsafe that unlock all doors.
