You are repeating what former car reviewer and Porsche fan Dr Winston Lee did during his early days as a car reviewer for ST. Those were the days where there's always a Porsche 911 listed in the ST Car of the Year award, under the Sports Car category, on the last week of every December.

That distributor no longer gave him any cars for reviews.

I miss the doc's content driven car reviews. Somehow a more insightful read compared to Christopher Tan's and the current batch of writers' reviews. If only he had not allowed his raging hormones to take control over his brain.

Porsches will always have a car of the year everywhere, not just in SG. They win Le Mans how many times liao, of course they will have great road cars.

TBH, for this review, I thought very long about it before writing it. But, might as well speak my mind since (1) I don't get paid for reviews, (2) I don't think there's any other Jeep I'd like to test drive after this one, (3) The dealership themselves did not even bother to prep the car when I arrived that morning to collect it. They didn't even know I was going to collect the car and I had to wait for them sort it out. The car was also dirty and smelled of cigarette smoke. How like that?

Test driving can be a last resort.

What would you think of a review that points out mostly the flaws of the car, and not the good points?

Obviously this has to be objective and not based on stereotypes, especially archiac ones.

For example, the Subaru Impreza (or any other car) sucks in that its seat latches are loose, has bad rear headrests (they corrode: even the vios ones 10+yrs ago are better) etc, but not that it drinks like a tank (unless you drive it like a madman)

I believe that this would increase viewership and somehow attract eyeballs more than usual reviews that fail to mention these.

I think I rather take the high-spec Forester (Somehow I associate this with the older Forester) at 100k (you can always try to bargain) and you get auto rear tailgate.

IMHO, by giving a guy to drive for a year period may or may not have positive impact on the car, be it Porsche, Maserati, Volvo, BMW or Mercedes.

Branding sells at least 60-70% of target audience, its in the buyer's mindset, budget, specifications and comparison etc. the other consideration : OMV, Maintenance,warranty, FC and resale value after 10 yrs recycle to renew COE, Using LTA   old car expiry vs new car COE is prime concern, its mind boggling.

Let's say a celebrity given a car model to drive 12 months in exchange for positive review is encouraged, but his guy said the opposite instead. Towards the end of the day, how much can a car buyer/s get a good review of a car performance rating issues and blah blah . . . what does this mean ?, Is he being honest to capture a good number of concerns to be raised, the public needs to know, interim period of how much one needs to set aside for major repairs after warranty period, due to high cost of owning such prestigious car, it's imperative to know the unknown, and what is the potential problem about this model and how AD can rectify such issue/s promptly and effortlessly. We are talking about general car per say, a car ambassador is infact an ' Influencer ' in today market, so when this particular reviewer stick his neck out , he got ridiculed instead.

Not every AD dare to declare 90% all new car is problem free, but I do see a Korean Car ( KIA ) dare to declare their car engine has 10 years WARRANTY period pasted on every car windscreen, this devil may care already sticker  win the heart and mind of many Korean fans here and abroad.
