Is your worth just based on that “like”?

Use real life example when teaching / sharing with your kids. First few time they will likely to look at you with a blank face, but they will understand eventually.

For me, I like to share "behind the door scene" with my kids, i.e. what happened when you do something. Example, when we share personal info online, what it could be used for, and how it can be a risk if mishandled by the service provider.

i used Spiderman, Far away from home movie to explain to them why they should not trust strangers or everything that someone says  [laugh]

As above, does that like or praise really make any difference to your self worth?

A good read:

Thats the reason why cambridge analytical was so successful.

Just that the fake news part was really something that should have being avoided.

I agree. that on some very basic level, the effort you spent typing something means that at least an acknowledgement that someone read it or bothered to like or reply to it is important.

No one posting stuff can be totally immune. If they were, they would be a hermit with their own lives. Or just become the closet lurkers which lurk in every forum.

u being ask this question too many times and have live a long life responding with the most likable answer when

either u be Killed in action answering truthfully or you answer what the recipient wants to hear.

Maybe MCF should conduct a similar experiment, together with this new platform? I fully support it.

Facebook considers experimenting with hiding likes

Another way to help improve users' mental health.

Facebook is considering a test to hide likes on News Feed posts. The company already tested a similar move on Instagram in August as a way to help break users' fixation with getting likes on their pictures.

Data miner Jane Manchun Wongdiscovered that Facebook is experimenting with the change in its Android app Monday. The company said Monday it's considering testing the removal of likes on posts to its social media platform, confirming an earlier report by TechCrunch.

If implemented, Facebook posts will no longer show the number of likes or reactions to a post. The user who created the post can see a list of people and their reactions, but a number won't be displayed. Wong pointed out that likes and reactions on comments were still viewable with this feature turned on.

In August, Facebook said it began the test to "remove the pressure of how many likes a post will receive" on Instagram, and it was "excited by the early test results."

It's unclear when the feature will be available on both platforms.

As for praise/like linking to income of influencer, I first question my kids what do they think about number of like / dislike. When they answer popularity, the next question from me would be "but with so many company asking for likes to enjoy discount at their outlet, more likes really mean they are popular, or are they 'buying' likes?" After a few rounds of Q&A (2 way communication, as I want them to challenge me), they will get the full picture.

One example I shared was makan thread in MCF, as even posting cai png at staircase / road side also can gather >50 praise point easily, does that mean that cai png is nice or simply monkey see monkey do (or some call it peer pressure)... :a-dothewave:  :a-nospamhere:

you should start a cult group and have a cai png religion ...hhheheeh

The problem is not likes.

The problem is anon dislikes.

Now that it's gone you never  hear anyone pissed off with the cowards anymore.

Hahaha to all the cowards who cannot post anon dislikes anymore.

:D

All the anon dislikers can go and pluck themselves cos they are all chickens and chickens have feathers that need plucking. So please go and pluck yourself.

Well. the whole point of a forum if not for the regular TCSS stuff, is to share information or experiences. Similar to how reddit upvotes something, an informative or highlighted well crafted post deserves more likes than the others.

If just separate into "liked (with no quantity)" vs regular run-of-the mill posts, it's harder for people to sieve out the quality posts as opposed to ones which we praise cos it's funny or for friendship reasons.

So i don't support.

Last time got one thread of good looking young ladies with very little clothes.

Praise is a show of appreciation.

I appreciate all the post of the young ladies with no money to buy a lot of clothes.

:D

So praise is good.
