I have seen the BM version several times. Quite close to RAV4.

Had a chance to ride in one today. Surprisingly roomy and practical. Tight at the back for three adults. Lots of hard plastic, so it’s not going to please some.
Fuel efficiency is impressive. Can easily get 18km/L with normal driving. 20km/L with a light foot.

@13177 but 18.8 on paper for a hybrid tbh does not sound very impressive, especially when hybrids typically always are at least 20+km/l. real-life FC somemore will need deduct 1-2km/l...but I guess for the size, engine cc and all, the car is more of an all-rounder than a real fuel-sipper, with its small turning radius, features etc

Used to be in the past with the common cars like altis, vios, but nowadays quite a number are on par or maybe even better.

@Dafansu one thing abt toyota FC I feel la, is that its quite close to the paper specs as compared to others from what I hear

Because just look at how many of those Altis on the road driving style, many are very  light foot. Take for ever to pick up.

BM SE just msg me Cross Hybrid selling @ $177.5k nett.

Specs definitely so much better than PI.

PI model basically bare bones and instrumentations Still semi analogue and driver seat still manual adjustment.

@13177 The days of lower cost CoE are gone. It’s in the government’s interest to keep CoE above $100k going forward. They have revised how many CoE’s will be released in the next quarter based on the previous 12 months rolling average here: https://www.channelnewsasia.com/singapore/lta-adjust-coe-quota-calculation-reduce-supply-volatility-3219981

Owning a car in Singapore is increasingly becoming more and more expensive as time goes by. Affordability is going out the window and only the affluent will be able to afford owning a car.

@13177 the Subaru Forester hybrid ($172,800) is a good alternative to the Toyota Corolla Cross hybrid ($178,488).

The reason why the Forester is cheaper is due to the low OMV of $19,903 vs. the Corolla Cross hybrid OMV of $29,007. Don’t know how Motor Image is able to have a such low OMV, but they’re making close of 100% margin on the sales price.

For the Corolla Cross hybrid, Borneo Motors seems to passing on the -$15k VES rebate to the consumer whilst making a decent 50% margin on the sales price.

I like the Forester, as its a lot roomier on the inside and can easily fit three adults in the back seats. Unfortunately, its going to cost more at the pump to keep it on the road compared to the Corolla Cross in terms of FC.

Forester hybrid FC: 14.5km/L

Corolla Cross hybrid FC: 18.8km/L

If Subaru gets its act together and improve the boxer engine to pollute less, it should be able to get the VES rebate of -$15k and into A2 band - just like Corolla Cross. The hybrid system can be copied from Toyota (who owns a significant share of Subaru) and thus the FC can also be improved to narrow the difference to the Corolla Cross hybrid. If these cost savings can be passed down to the consumer, I reckon Subaru will have a huge winner.

So even the hybrid version of the Forester, the FC still so bad? I only heard the non hybrid version of Forester FC quite bad, as it is good to drive but not so good on your pocket for petrol. 😅

I always find buying Toyota is buying for the brand or maybe good FC. But if you want a better interior quality, safety features and space, there are always a better choice. For this case i would prefer the Forester than the Corolla Cross if you dont consider the FC. At least Forester is AWD.

Saw the toyota cross hybrid at the recent motorshow and the specs were mighty impressive - 196hp, 0-100kmh in 7.7s. Will outrun most Hondas on the road (ouch to the i-vtec). Online reviews were not so good though, at least from what I saw.

for a COE @ $106k - is the Subaru Impreza 5D at $127.8k the best fire deal ever? Before they update it to the 2024 facelift version..
