depends on if you go by manufacturer advise or the street advice. manufacturer claims that tires can easily last  10years. some street advice says 2years from Date of manufacture.

@inline6 will you follow michelin advice? since you biased towards michelin. 😁 michelin also claims that using till wear indicators for wet is ok, but other manufacturers says 3mm.

https://www.automotiveworld.com/news-releases/michelin-changing-tyres-3mm-unnecessary-costly-harmful-environment/

I will not follow their advice.

Even though my mileage is low, I will change after 3 years of use.

Oh okie.
It's an SUV/CUV tyre. So your car is SUV/CUV?

Any recommendations for 18" rim and tyre combo? Considering to upgrade from my current 16" for Mazda 3. Would prefer good FC and rolling, budget maybe 1.5 to 2k?

if u want good FC, forget abt 18". Stay with 16 or go 17 at the most.

Get a forged rim for better FC (lighter weight) but a new set of rims alone will be more than $2k. Perhaps try to find a good condition used set of rims with the right specs (PCD, width and offset) for your car and then put on a new set of tyres.

by "rolling", do u mean low rolling resistance or low noise (when rolling)? although both might be co-related.

Good points. If want good FC and rolling resistance (both Sama Sama in my view since not much difference in aerodynamics for tyres), forget about wide, heavy, sporty tyres. Stick to original size.

And check out the comparisons and decide for yourself.  I used the recommended tyres (comfort) and very happy with it.

Honestly i am mainly changing for looks, i saw some rims (used probably) on carousel for around 600 to 800, SSW, Rayer etc (not sure which brands are good), so i thought 1.5k would be an acceptable price. Maybe i should just ignore FC and everything else haha

Would check it out, probably op for comfort too, thanks

One question regarding compatibility issues. If my current rims are ET 45, would an aftermarket ET 42 fit? As most rims i see comes at ET 42.

Also for 18 inch rims, do they usually comes in width 8? Was thinking if width 7.5 helps more in FC, as it is the stock spec of the higher end model of my car.

it's not just FC that is affected. Pick up speed (i.e. acceleration) will also be affected.

changing from ET 45 to 42 usually is ok, assuming the rim width is the same.

yes some 18s do come in 7.5 width too.

What is current rim width and offset?
What is prospective rim width and offset?
Is current rim flush to body?
If 18” rim + tyre heavier than 16”, FC confirm will be higher.

His car model has variants that uses 18" rim as stock, so maybe the fuel consumption will be close to the level of those 18" rim variants.

8J rims can, but ET40, officially speaking.

So if new rims of 8J has ET of 40 or less should be ok.
